I have one of the Mitchell Imports M-90 rifles. Same thing in 7.62x51. Thing is built like a tank. Drawbacks on the M-90 include the un-obtainium scope mount (the rail will not accept the standard ON M76B mount) and the very expensive and hard to find magazines. Also, looking for a 7.62x 51 cam for the ON M76 scope. Please check your parts drawers!

It's a heavy rifle, but I would not hesitate to use it as a go to weapon.

ON M76 mount for Mitchell rifle

M-90

I watched it yesterday. Neat gun, I'd love to see the 7.62 NATO version matched up against a 7.62 NATO Galil.

Of course, the video also got me curious enough to watch a 5 hour long docu-series on the break up of Yugoslavia, so I'm blaming Ian for yet more time being wasted on historical pursuits.

I also have the 7.62x51. Also have several cases of the 7.92mm ammo made for it. Clearly marked M-76 on the crate. The M-76 saw combat and I know some were sent to Africa.

Would it shoot regular 8mm (like romy steel case) or is the m-76 8mm special in some kinda way?
Not sure how I missed this, been looking for just such a 8mm rifle. All this time and it was right under my nose

Yes it will shoot steel case. It's just a big AK.

Thanks Hansel!. I looked into it a little bit today. Pricey items! Kits are expensive, receivers are expensive, built rifles are expensive. But I put them on the radar so will be keeping tabs of the situation. I had a bunch of 8mm bolt guns at one time but now most are gone. Still have the stack of Romy 8mm ammo though.
If only VEPR had made an 8mm I would have had one by now. I love my 54R VEPR. It actually makes shooting the 54R round pleasant. I'm pretty sure the same thing would happen with 8mm in a AK style rifle.

I am careful with mine as no more are coming so I use bass cased ammo. (not that it won't shoot the steel case but I've had issues in the past with 8mm, 7.62x39 and 5.45 ammo, never 7.62x54R hummm? mainly case seperation at the neck). Anyway, SG ammo still has surplus Yugo brass ammo. I like this stuff.

Name of the documentary please? Thanks

Shooting the M-76. As he said it is comfortable to shoot, like a Hakim with the gas adjusted.

The Death of Yugoslavia, a BBC documentary from the '90s. It actually ends before Kosovo gets going, immediately after "peace" in Bosnia. I can't find the upload I watched, but here's another one.

I watched a video many years ago ( maybe Faces of Death) that one part was shot in Bosnia. A team was using an M-76 and they were shooting what appeared to be cilvilians. I can stand some pretty strange stuff but that was rough. What hate can bring out and to this day I think about some of the political crazies in this country. From seeing things like that, if we slide over the edge, it will be a horrible all or nothing event.

M-76 vs M91 (PSL). I picked up a pile of 8mm mags are the SAR show, greasy nasty but the real thing. Also 3-4 years ago there were a bunch of 308 mags for the yugo M-76. Once then and never again (wish I had picked some up.)

I sold the one I purchased back in 2005, it was a POS.

The new one (2018) is an all round better rifle.

My old Century M76 (out of spec receiver) and the old PSL are gone. The new M76 is from AWO.
