Yes, once you open the door to the police, you are in effect inviting them into your house, assuming they want in. They’re not going to surrender ground, they’re not going to let you close the the door. They’re going to push their way inside and once inside, they’re not leaving until the investigation is over.

Generally speaking, the less said to the police the better. Often the most powerful thing you can do is to remain silent. The police won’t like that, and with good reason.
