We had a flood system designed by the CoE.

They basically re-routed the river away from the town.

In the process of that, when they completed it and dammed up and separated the old river so it would drain out, the old river didn't drain out.

Now, there is a couple of miles of mosquito laden swamp where the river used to be.

The locals call it lake mistake.
