It's an Argentine receiver, probably worth $700 by itself.
Coolness. What are you seeing on the receiver I'm missing to say it's Argy?

I'm not disputing you but I cannot see any detail on my laptop to say what it is?

Re: My first FAL how did I do ?

Yes it is Brit. The folding handle is standard and the barrel is definitely shortened.

Need close-ups of markings to identify receiver, but it is a type 3 of some sort.

Re: Gas block journal too small on new SA58 barrel

I ordered a NOS open ear Belgian GB from gun things. Fingers crossed the fit will be tight but not too tight. So the barrel mic'ed correct and the gas block was the problem? Interesting and not what I would have expected. Does anyone know if the Izzy GBs are always an odd size relative to FAL barre...

Re: Washington Fall Shoot

You will probably have to just talk bad about me again this year. I cancelled my annual engineering class that week due to COVID, but Blondzilla has knee surgery on Aug 31 and she tells me the Doc says the best therapy for recovery is to soak it in warm saltwater. I suspect we will be somewhere in t...

Re: Gas block journal too small on new SA58 barrel

I would first mic the barrel and check with DSA. Is it to their spec and they make them too small, or is it accidentally cut undersized and was missed by QC?

IDK what the market value is today, but I might be interested if you are wanting to sell. Please PM me with contact info if you want to discuss that in more detail.

Re: FAL MATCH @ RBGC in GA is still a go for Aug 29th!

Hagar - I put a looonnngggg butt stock on my race gun specifically for that reason. Standing, kneeling, or sitting I can always lean my head forward. Prone, I could never get my head back enough for a good focal point without the long stock. It is a custom long stock, longer than the ZA ones, plus a...

Hey WEG

When we get the real board back, I will try to remember to post this in the "WEG challenge" thread.

This particular rifle will do it if and when I do my part right :D

Ammo variation - this surprised me!

I knew my race gun liked Perfecta ammo and I always thought it liked Hirtenberg. It's am Imbel on Imbel build with 18" barrel and various mods specific to fit my own purpose as a "race gun". https://i.imgur.com/tt1deH0.jpg I changed scopes yesterday as my Burris XTR went south on me at the KY FAL sh...

Re: When does the normal FF open back up, pick your time and date

Seeing the comments on how the AK side is coming, I can only hope that the FAL side comes up "bug free" from the AK learning curve. I have nothing but a wild ass guess at best though on what that means for our timing however. I will blindly say Sunday the 16th at 2PM. That is as good of a guess as ...

Re: Is .308 for slssles?

What sled are you using for .308? If you ever see me with one of those things in my rifle, please flail me with a scope rod . Those things are absolutely unnecessary, and are the source of countless problems and delays on the firing line. Is that an auto-correct version of an "op rod" or am I missi...

Regardless of market value elsewhere, it may worth paying on the high side for you in MASS.

Like a Colt SP1 has no real special value here, but certainly does in ban states.

It won't be unsafe, but may (or may not) beat on the rifle. If it were me and had it in hand, I would go ahead and screw it together and try it. I don't think you will really know until you do.

My Garands are mostly 30-06, because they are Garands dammit, but ...... I mostly shoot my FALs, plus both my M1A and M1919 are also in 308. That is the ammo I really buy in bulk, so yes I have a 308 Garand as well for a routine shooter. Back to the original question, I cannot tell and discernible d...

I don't want any more kits. I specifically don't have any interest in an Izzy kit. Well said Kev, me too, which is why I only ordered one kit (whistling). Seriously, the only other FAL I have even a casual interest in getting is a HB, but if that changes for some reason down the road, or if one of ...

There are a lot of active falfilers that for various reasons have chosen not to participate on this temp board, and in particular the MP here.

Be patient another week or so until we get back "home" and I believe you will not have a problem finding a bolt in the MP.
