Re: The AK-19: Kalashnikov announces new lightweight assault rifle to be presented at military expo
I'm guessing that Kalashnikov Group is trying to cash in on the 5.56mm AK market for export, since FB Radom (with the Beryl) and Arsenal with their 5.56mm AKs have done well, though especially with FB pushing the Grot, it's unknown how long they'll continue to make 5.56mm AK derivatives.

Re: The AK-19: Kalashnikov announces new lightweight assault rifle to be presented at military expo
I'd ask to see HQ photos of the rifle, namely the muzzle device, but since the new FAL Files forum will be opening up in a day or two, I'm not sure how much use it will be to ask.

Re: Forum Status Updates
Given that the site is up and open to contributors and vendors, it should be open for general admission in a day or two.

Thanks for the update. I'm assuming that contributors and marketplace gets priority first, with general users soon after?

Re: Forum Status Updates
I too am a bit frustrated, but imagine how frustrated Jen and the mods and admins are who have to keep tuning up stuff that's out of spec or doesn't work? As far as real life, I had to wait from mid-March until late July to do stuff with friends, but I'm glad for the wait and I made a new friend tho...

Re: Goodyear just went full libtard
Yep, other American brands like BF Goodrich and Firestone are owned by Michelin (France) and Bridgestone (Japan) respectifly. Granted, for their part, Goodyear owns Dunlop, which is why in like the WEC and European Le Mans Series and Le Mans there's Goodyear in place of Dunlop (though I'm sure that ...

If NASCAR is anything to go by, Goodyear's tires suck anyways.

Glad that I prefer Victoria Justice over her, and a lot of other's in H'wood. Easy to guess where Victoria's allegiances lie, but she doesn't ram it down your throat at least.

Well, if crap stops messing up on the AK Files board and that stabilizes, we'd probably get general access to the FAL Files within a day or two of that.

Re: ObamaforDummies
From what I've read in another thread, those who were perma-banned from the FAL Files side of things can expect to stay banned once the revived site is up and running. Problem right now is that jank on the side of the AK Files with stuff still not working right off and on, and once that gets ironed ...

AK Files page opens up to as far as getting there. Not going to re-register or try and figure out my old password, though. Rather wait for the FAL Files to come online once all the bugs have been worked out.

Re: Forum Status Updates
Being on this board makes me wish that the FAL Files was back up, for more reason than one. Namely better discussions and more varied content, and not having to read stuff from assholes who couldn't make the cut even on the AK Files.

FAL "flash hider" bayonet question.
If one made a muzzle brake or flash hider based on the dimensions of the "prongs" on the FAL bayonets that were equipped with flash hider prongs that were part of the muzzle ring, what would it's diameter and length be?

FN Universal Carbine Muzzle Brake
I wanted to wait to ask this when the resurrected FAL Files board is open for general use, but after seeing some photos of the recoil check (AKA muzzle brake) designed for the M2 carbine, and having seen photos of the standard and bullpup forms of the FN Universal Carbine (predecessor to the FAL) wi...

BAR vs MAG/M240 Bolt Design Differences
I've been wondering this since I watched a video on the inner workings of the BAR last night. Aside from being modified to run a MG42 belt feed system, I'm wondering what the design differences between the BAR bolt and the MAG bolt are. Both basically work the same way as far as locking, but I've re...

Re: Approx. Cartridge Dimensions in This Image?
Well, I was just effin' around with a program on a website that measures/scales images. IE, if you know the length or width of something, you punch in the numbers, scale the object, and you can get a good estimate of what other objects size are. I did this with a side profile of a HK433 rifle with a...

I'll also probably repost this on the new forum, but this is the Perino M1908. Seemed for the time to be a great MG, but it would've been a bitch to make back then, and one to make now:

You Tube Page You Guys May Like
Here's a You Tube page that shows renders/animations of how various weapons (mostly World War I era machine guns) work. It's got stuff like the Maxim/Vickers-Maxim, the Hotchkiss M1914, the Hotchkiss M1909 LMG, and some more obscure stuff like the MG 07/12 Swartzlose, the M1908 Perino (a gun I alway...

Re: Approx. Cartridge Dimensions in This Image?
I'm guessing that the take away is that, at least within reason, you can configure any rifle you want to fire anything you want as long as the round size (length and width) isn't too outlandish and if you change enough things around? Which is probably (if not flat out obviously) easier to do when yo...
