Re: Type 2 on GB
It's interesting that this rifle seems to have no import marks, given what is shown in the pictures provided. I presume that it is possible that it was imported prior to when the 1968GCA went into effect (10/68). In his book, Stevens mentioned the changes the ATF mandated in "1968 - 1969" as far as ...

Re: Fal g-series SN: G2283 info?
I plan on listing it for sale online tomorrow and see what deals come my way. You might give that rifle a thorough check for anything else the previous owner may have changed. If he changed out the muzzle break he may have made other mods to the rifle that could affect the price. FWIW, here's a G-S...

Re: British L1A1 Scope?
By jove, I think you've got something there! It sounds reasonable to me. There was an ex-UK armorer on the other board that might be able to shed further light on "Don".
Here's another one, by the way:

Re: British L1A1 Scope?
I'd go with Yellowhand's estimate of 250 - 300. If you are not in a hurry to sell, I'd list it for the higher of the two figures. If I am properly making out the detail in your pics, the serial number on the bottom of the SUIT matches the serial number on the sticker on the side of the SUIT. Is that...

Re: What causes dings on a FAL recoil plate?
We've had the subject of the dents come up on the Files plenty of times over the years. I think the best argument made has been that it is a result of prying out the recoil spring tube by the housing and letting it hit the recoil plate. If the dents are more to the left side of the recoil plate (as ...

Re: Any Bluegrass fans here?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4sqishGuYw Don't tell me those licks that these guys were laying down in the 1940s weren't a part of the germ of rock and roll. Not hardly. Big Joe Turner, Louis Jordan, and other jump blues artists provided more of the genesis of rock & roll. But if you want some h...
