Re: FAL Files Partially Open!

The new board looks great. It will take a little time to get used to navigating it since the format and layout have been changed. A quick tour though the new board and didn't see any that popped out at me. I did post a question in the Moderator section about merging threads.

Re: FAL MATCH @ RBGC in GA is still a go for Aug 29th!

Can I get a sound off for those that plan to be present for setup on Friday? I can...and will...do it all myself, if necessary. But if you plan to come and have a time estimate of arrival I can sort out a better plan. I will be coming into town Friday afternoon so I'll come straight to the range an...

I’m watching this double shit storm bearing down on us here in Baton Rouge, I’ve got a room booked but I’ll have to make a decision by tomorrow night Bring the family and consider it getting a jump on the mandatory evacuation. Come on and go to the match. You'll be back by Sunday evening and be abl...

Re: FAL MATCH @ RBGC in GA is still a go for Aug 29th!

I’ve always wanted to get to this one. Not so far away, see some old friends, meet a bunch of new ones. Like others, time’s catching up with me, the body went to seed 10 years ago with the back surgery, and it’s time to do it again. 280 lbs of whale grease puffing around the range! :D But I think i...

Built my own using different parts of the DPM design. PSA blem upper and lower, nitrided bolt and carrier assembly from AIM Surplus, don't remember whose barrel but it was nitrided 18 inch standard profile, MagPul fixed stock and magazines, various pieces from my spare/extra parts bin including a JA...

One thing we all need to remember, she has two web sites to fix and not just one. She got one back up and running and from what I understand, she is knee deep in fixing issues that keep popping up. Seems the AK guys CAN break an anvil. Nothing major, but those "little issues" do add up to a lot of t...

Re: White herron type bird in midwest?

Just north of you in Illinois we had Cattle Egrets. While they did wade around in low lands and swamps, they really preferred the pastures and would walk behind the cattle eating the insects stirred up.

Re: Ammo variation - this surprised me!

Experienced the same thing at the range last week. L1A1 used to like RG and would group around 2½" at 100 yds with irons. Last week the RG opened up to ~5". Some Malaysian surplus I brought along was about 4" and at least 6-7 inches up and away from same point of aim. The groups from the IMBEL using...

Yep, same ole, same ole. Bill throws a bone in the middle of the floor just to see how much attention he will get. It seems to work every time. Yep, 16+ posts responding to a person that most of the posters said they wished gone. Unwanted posts with no replies disappear pretty quick and most often ...

See if you can pull the mag backwards to push up the back side. Then try to cycle a round. If it works fine, then probably an issue with the mag catch.

Almost looks like you have 7.62x39 rounds based upon the location of the rim (deep set). FWIW, most bottle necked cartridges headspace off the shoulder and rimmed cartridges headspace off the rim.

The book "The Hellfire Boys" by Theo Emery. It is the history of the poison gas development of the US during WWI and the formation of the US Army Chemical Warfare Department. Kind of funny to find out that the main laboratory was located just a short distance from the US Capitol Building in DC. Also...

NALIOTH is correct. As long as it is going to an APO or FPO, the only extra thing you will have to do is fill out a customs form declaring what is inside the package. Sent them for several years to my son and his family (birthdays and Xmas) while he was stationed overseas.

For all of my semi autos pistols, I would remove the mag after cycling the slide, take my Barney Bullet out of my shirt pocket, top off the mag and re-insert the mag. If I couldn't do that then I knew the pistol wasn't loaded. For auto rifles I used this procedure: Look at the top round (right or le...

The tin cans were moved to other piers to get them away from the fire. Latest news said 21 persons were injured and hospitalized, none life threatening. Also reported that all people on board were accounted for. Still no cause of the fire, but it was undergoing refit work. Saw a cell phone video tha...
