If you’re shipping FAL parts out of the SE US: AVOID FEDEX

Their Norcross facility is currently an almost-literal black hole. Bought an IMBEL kit off a member and he shipped it promptly. As soon as it arrived in the Norcross hub it stopped all movement. Shit even made the damn news. According to some reddit FedEx workers, the Norcross facility is currently ...

Re: Kenosha Wisconsin on fire - BLM & Antifa Terrorists

I wonder why they don't bring it down South .. ?? It would be shitty for their narrative. At least down where I live, if people started burning businesses down you’d have a bunch of black/white folks armed to the teeth ready for war. The rural south is a lot less racist than people think. Liberal m...

I’m torn between an L1A1 kit and another IMBEL kit

An additional IMBEL would be nifty as it would enable me to build another kit for sub $1000. An L1A1 kit would be nifty as i don’t have one currently. However, the rifle would likely push $1500 assuming I could find a receiver. I’m leaning towards the L1A1 as depending how this election goes, the ab...

Re: Guy with the loose Israeli GB on a DSA barrel reporting back

Good on ya mate!! Will the other Izzy gas parts work with the Belgian GB? I had in my mind they would not, but my direct Izzy experience is about 1/2 notch above zero. It’ll take the shorty plug from the Israeli and I believe the regulator and tube too. I did however..make a small booboo. In my has...

Guy with the loose Israeli GB on a DSA barrel reporting back

Belgian open eared gas block fit perfect. $156 after shipping but honestly well spent. Looks much better than the original gas block on the DSA barrel and it’ll let me retain a lot of originality in the project. Very pleased I did not scrap the project!

Re: SCAMMED By New Member, Jamesheartwell. Buyers beware!

The files should implement a holding service for funds. Essentially a third party that holds funds until either A) the product arrives or B) proof of drop off at FedEx/UPS/USPS (selfie with the box + shipping label attached at the FedEx counter) is sent to the mod team. It would let people confident...

Re: SCAMMED By AKFiles Member, Jamesheartwell. Buyers beware!

If he’s a scammer he’s pretty bad at it. He messaged me about selling an IMBEL kit and it took him 4 days after texting me “yeah, one minute” (when I asked him for a picture of the kit).

Needless to say I bought a kit off another member.

The Part that comes out of hole in the Lower to Lock it to Upper only moves out of the Hole around 3 mm (It barely catches ) I'm thinking the Upper is not fully seating into the Lower perhaps ?
Did you slap the top cover? A quick thump locks mine up.

I have a complete Imbel kit with mismatched hand guards (one bipod cut, one non-bipod) for $425. Bore is great but all parts would normally be refinished for a really nice looking rifle. All parts were there but I will verify once more if you want the kit.
PMd my number.

Re: Locking Shoulder Removal

The “set pin” you are talking about holds the ejector block in place. There are two. Doesn’t affect the locking shoulder. Technique I use is to use a reversed nut driver as a pusher (shaft is 1/4”) and a 1/2” or 9/16” socket on the other side of the receiver. Place all three pieces in a vice and ap...

The Bent Barrel issue was Argy Barrels....not Imbel.
Saw a handful (not many) of guys complaining about it in a few reddit threads on the PSA kits when people suggest IMBEL kits were a better deal at 550-600.

WTB: IMBEL kit

Curious if anyone has one laying around. Edit: condition of metal is important, stock grip and handgaurd condition is not. Barrel cut is unimportant as long as it is the factory barrel. Level of finish is not that important either. I’m looking to build an IMBEL that functions flawlessly and shoots d...

Re: Gas block journal too small on new SA58 barrel

If people are building rifles and don't have a $30 set of calipers to at least report the diameter of the GB journal, then I'm out of here. I never got into the Izzy thing at all. So much wrong with the vibe with respect to the mods they made. FWIW. Blech :P 3 posts up, put the journal and gas bloc...

Re: Israeli FAL front sight tool

I feel like on ARS site it said 0.096 was to spec but he has built a lot that had sluggish gas systems at that so he does 0.116 now by default. I'll defer to GP to clarify what he said, but I doubt that is exactly what he said. A port of .096-ish is standard and .116" (a #32) is about where you nee...

Re: Gas block journal too small on new SA58 barrel

Gas block journal of the DSA barrel:

0.6910-0.6915

Internal diameter of the DSA gas block:

0.6905

Gas block journal of the barrel section:

0.6935-0.6940.

Internal diameter of the surplus gas block:

0.6935.

Seems the DSA barrel is in spec compared to the other posters 3 surplus barrels.

Re: Gas block journal too small on new SA58 barrel

An SA58 barrel is not a heavy barrel. Correct, and their standard metric gas block fit firmly on their barrel when delivered. I’m guessing it’s tolerance stacking in a bad way. I feel like it’s a safer bet that the Israeli barrel was out of spec ever so slightly than a 21st century mass produced ba...

Re: Gas block journal too small on new SA58 barrel

There are some ways to tighten up your fit. It doesn’t have to have some crazy heavy interference fit. It just needs to not slide on and off. The journal the gas block goes on could be knurled, which would raise some material. You could even use a center punch to make some marks to raise enough mat...

Re: Gas block journal too small on new SA58 barrel

I would first mic the barrel and check with DSA. Is it to their spec and they make them too small, or is it accidentally cut undersized and was missed by QC? The really befuddling part is the original block on the new barrel didn’t just slide off, it took quite a lot of banging.. I wonder if a new ...

Gas block journal too small on new SA58 barrel

Tried to put my Izzy block on a brand new SA58 barrel and it just slid right on. No tapping it in, nothing. Had to bang it off the barrel section from the parts kit, but on the new barrel it just slid right on. My heart sunk a little. What are my options? I’m tempted to scrap the project at this poi...

Re: Correct front sight?

I think it depends on how much of your gas system you want to replace.

You can knock the old gas block off and put the Izzy one on. Just use a lot of grease. ARS has a good write up on his site.
