Re: Help Identifying Parts FAL
You done good. No junk US parts on that rifle to work around. When they built the L1A1 parts on the unmarked Imbel receivers, the thumbhole stock obviated the need for any of the US parts count BS.

Re: Bought me a new shooter to go along with tha L1A1's
I've got that same safety on an M&P .22 Compact and it's quite usable. Much better than the tiny tab on the Shield. Nothing at all wrong with the .40S&W. It's a far better caliber than 9mm when you can't get the super-duper zoot SD ammo. And the M&P packs a bunch onboard. One of mine has a .357SIG b...

Re: My first FAL how did I do ?
Sure, L1A1 wood stock sets used to be everywhere CHEAP, like $5-10 for a complete set. Aussie almost always had laminated forearms and Brit stuff has always been quite a bit more expensive than Aussie but there's bound to be tons of it still floating around. Bet you'll be well over a hundred today f...

Yeah, that's the black finish on the lower I'm talking about. Got four kits just like that one,.....but no yellow sticker.

Re: Bought me a new shooter to go along with tha L1A1's
Didn't even know they made them with thumb safeties. Good buy for the time and place. I picked up a pair of them last year off of GB for $259 each. They came in the case with backstraps and 3 mags each. Night sights still strong. I was happy to find that at least the two I received were unissued/unf...

These kits(condition/price)don't seem to fit in with the garbage scrap guns coming out of Ethiopia.

I wouldn't put forty cents into this artificially inflated market and certainly wouldn't help support a casino, but yeah, these kits are like money in the bank(or better). Just opened my #3 and #4 and they're both excellent. Just like #1 and #2. All of my lowers look like they have a deep, dark blue...

Re: Type 2 on GB
We really like to argue this point on the 'files, but the basics are known to all. All sear-cut G series FALs are machineguns by definition. ATF has grandfathered in the serial numbers that can be proven to have been shipped into Browning Arms Co, St Louis prior to the ruling(arguably ATF has no aut...

USPS insurance is $1.50/100 or maybe even $2/100 value,....I forget. UPS insurance is cheaper, but UPS rates are higher. Best method to ship something of high value is USPS Registered Mail. Insurance is downright cheap and the package is signed for at every transfer, but it can be slow and it's not ...

Re: Type 2 on GB

Curious why y'all say it's not a G. It's not on the list so it's a bit pricey for contraband, but it's a nice rifle and sure looks like a G to me. Shame about having to turn it in or cut it up though.

Re: Tornado Kit Finally Comes To Life!!
Just as a test of my failing memeory,.....I think it was $220? Lot of money for a kit back then and hugely over-priced IMHO. I bought a couple and eventually sold them off unbuilt. I remember Rrotz making a big deal over having REAL Imbel kits available,......meh. Imbel receivers,...good. Imbel part...

Re: Gas block journal too small on new SA58 barrel
I feel like it’s a safer bet that the Israeli barrel was out of spec ever so slightly than a 21st century mass produced barrel. Perhaps I’m wrong and my barrel will be detouring it’s way back to DSA though. [/quote] Yeah, you must be new here. Welcome! If I had a surplus part and a DSA part and the...

Re: My first FAL how did I do ?
Don't know what happened to my post,...musta thrown it away. Yes, the markings and serial number show it's an Argy, but I don't see an unmarked mystery Century receiver being worth $700. A nice FMAP/Rosario SAC Latta might bring that. But this thing says CAI Sporter on it and that's not the same thi...

Re: 9mm SMG Lowers?
You'll get your numbers back when the permanent site comes up in a few days. This place is temporary. If you want to run Colt mags in the full magwell lower why not just buy a 5.56 lower and build it? If the caliber marking bugs you get one of the "multi" marked lowers(PSA). Mag blocks are still ava...

Yep, it's on the list which is good news,....you don't need to destroy it. Get rid of all that add-on crap ASAP and it'll be a nice collectible rifle.

Re: Century Rosario receivers?
Lockjaw's right. Just went out and checked a bunch of L1A1s and the three I have with "Made In Canada" are unmarked Imbels, I have one marked Imbel and not "Made In Canada". The Argy receiver L1A1 is marked CAI Sporter with serial number C and four digits,....and left uncut for the folding changing ...

Re: Century Rosario receivers?
Yes, and yes, but they weren't marked at all. I think these were "Made In Canada" receivers and the only way to tell them from Imbels is by the cuts. The Argies have the right(?) rear rail cut that makes it so easy to slip on the topcover.

My two kits just arrived. Absolutely gorgeous x 2,.....could not be happier. Pretty much standard, all parts present. Learned something new today about Izzy hinge pins. They aren't male/female halves like every other FAL. Basically just a bolt with a nut,....I never knew. Again, condition on both is...

That looks way too deep,.....no way an extractor can get hold of it in there. I think you are right about having a problem. If I had to make a guess I'd say someone modified the chamber for a sleeve to convert to 7.62x39 and the sleeve took a hike. Try putting a few layers of tape on the base of a r...
