Re: Nice and peaceful around here now.

Kind of dissapointing that the site that was started a good bunch later and as an afterthought, got priority for getting done and reopening first,,, :| No man, Jen is using them as the guinea pigs so us "good guys" can transition later in a smooth manner. Smart lady and she really does like us best...

Re: WTB: FAL building tools

When we get back to the real board, member Ratas Calientes makes and sells all the FAL tools. Great ones too!

He has a website that is something like faltools.com if you want to search it out before the board comes back up.

Re: Does your workplace allow you to carry firearms?

I work for an Australian owned company and the Aussies are completely terrified of firearms; any firearms. I offered to take a colleague to the range one day after work but he respectfully declined. WUT??? I have Aussie customers routinely who come here for FAT (factory acceptance testing) of new e...

Re: FAL max effective range

I missed the exact cylinder he was describing at 500 completely out of 40 rounds on a Belgian StG I had just built. Yup, you were there to witness my 1 hit in 20 shots, as was Txmoose, ExCan, James, and others. James and TXmoose were both here at my place last month for the KY shoot and reminded me...

Re: Need a list of the 3 most common LS sizes FALS h/space to

Pushing actual locking shoulder in and out to check headspace is not a good idea on many levels.

Buy pin gauges for that purpose. They will also resell well, and cost well under a $25 each locking shoulder.

Re: 30 round metric mags. Good price?

Before the Chinese virus crap $20-25 was the going rate for excellent or better mags. I hadn't heard $65 yet. That is for 20 round mags, OP wants 30 rounders. OP, I have not looked at 30 rounders anytime recently to say a number, but Sarco is generally fairly market priced. You may wait for the rea...

Re: FAL max effective range

When the real forum re-opens you can read a ton of info on this topic, literally dozens of loooonnnnggg threads.

For now, keep in mind that an FAL that can consistently shoot 3 MOA or under is an exception and not the rule.

Re: Izzy kits 299.00 at PSA

1. Can I build this myself? Yes but you will need a couple hundred bucks worth of special tooling and a lot of patience. It is not really cost effective (or time efficient) for only one build. 2. If I can not build this myself can I send it to any normal gunsmith? No, most "normal gunsmiths" are no...

Re: Izzy kits 299.00 at PSA

My PSA Izzy kit showed up today. Seems to all be there and condition is not bad at all, other than a lot of "character" carved into the butt stock. I'm still not sure if or when I will build it, but for 300 shekels, I like it. It did show up with a gas block which I did not expect. Maybe I should h...

Re: FAL max effective range

My most accurate FAL is an Imbel/Imbel built specifically to be a race-gun. Out at the OR shoot a couple years ago I was hitting a standard steel silhouette 3 out of 4 times (or maybe 4 out of 5 times?) at 400 yards as part of a "fastest time" challenge. This was shooting prone. Down at the North TX...

Member yellowhand is the resident expert on this topic. If he does not chime in here, wait a few days until the board is back up and he has several good tutorials already posted.

Alternatively, I you are not comfortable with DIY, he will make them beautiful for a nominal price.

Re: NOTICE: AKFILES MIGRATION COMPLETE - FORUM OPEN!

Question on the new boards: On the old boards, non-members could read most forums but not post. I tried to look at the new akfiles for a preview of what's to come on the FAL side and could not see anything but the log-in page. Not logged in=cannot see any forums. Is that the new norm, or just part o...

Re: Does your workplace allow you to carry firearms?

possession of a firearm on your person or even in your vehicle is prohibited. Do your own research, but I am fairly certain it has been proven unlawful to prohibit employees from having a legally owned firearm in their personal vehicle in the parking lot. Inside the building sure, their building an...

Re: Are DSA barrels worth it?

The the best of my knowledge, all Steyr barrels are bi-pod cut which is incorrect for an Izzy, regardless of muzzle configuration.

For pure shootability however, Steyr is generally thought to be one of the best and most accurate barrels.

Create a new email folder and create an email "rule". I created a folder named AMMO and created a rule for each of those senders to be redirected to m...

On the fiction/relaxation reading, I've started back through the Tom Clancy "Jack Ryan" novels I have not read in 20+ years. Currently in "Sum of All Fears" which is 4th or 5th down that list.
