Barrel threads

Are the threads on the "metric" FAL 1"-16 ? Also the same on the "inch" rifles?

How different are the IZZY threads? I believe I may be building one soon.

The Izzy and Indian barrels/receivers actually use a metric thread. Metric rifles are really only metric in name but use the same inch based thread as all other FALs/L1A1s.

Using an actual Izzy or Indian barrel will require that the threads be chased with a die.

The 1-16 die mentioned above? Is this a hard thread pitch to find? I haven't pulled the MSC catalog yet.

Are you cleaning up (chasing) existing threads or cutting new ones? If just chasing look into a "thread repair" file. Very handy thing to have in your toolbox.

MSC Industrial is great to work with, their operators are so polite and friendly and I have never ever seen faster delivery. (They also carry stuff my local machinery houses like Best and Rex do not have)

They are in Atlanta, I am in Houston. If I order Standard UPS ground @ 5:45PM central time on Monday, I get my stuff @ 3:30 Tuesday, 22 hours. Not too happy about the mandatory $10.00 shipping fee, but love delivery time!

More than a cleanup

I ordered a tap - theres way more to do than a thread file can handle.

Won't work on inside threads anyhow. I still need to get some in SAE as well as metric myself.

"Metric" FAL's refer to the blue prints being in metric dimensions, however like previously stated the thread pitches on all FAL's are Inch threads except for the Izzy receiver barrel threads which are metric.
