I recently signed up for the concealed carry class at my local sheriffs office, and to qualify we need to pass the "US Marshal's Backup Weapon Qualification Course". I've tried looking around online to see just what exactly that entails, but can't come up with much. Thought I'd ask here and see if anybody is familiar with it.

That seems pretty extreme if correct. I could pass it, but I also shoot IDPA monthly. Is this course of fire required by the sheriff or is it state wide?

From that link you provided even the marshalls no longer use that qualification.

"A marksmanship test that simulates conditions a marshal might face aboard a jet was eliminated as a means of qualifying for the program, apparently to get more marshals on more flights quickly, sources say. A manager and two sources within the TSA say the difficult shooting course was cut from qualification tests after a high number of applicants began failing what had once been the program's critical requirement. Program officials insist the shooting standards for marshals are among the highest for law enforcement organizations.

It's a county requirement.

Cedar County, Iowa.
