Question about KY Imports?

I tripped over a link today for stg58 parts kits @ KY Imports for $190 (if memory serves) but anyway having never personaly done business w/ them i was wondering, are they O.K. ? They had it listed as an stg48 maybe a typo or a cause for concern. unfortunately they didn't have a description or any pictures. Well thats the background but the question after all that was, has anyone bought from them, had problems w/ them, etc.

( on a seemingly unrelated note i saw some one say something about don't trade/sell an FAL to an AK owner. Was that an inside joke? or is there some actual reason for that (besides an FAL being worth at least 2 AKs) I ask because i found the stg kits looking for AK parts and it reminded me.)

Do a search,I can not say, for I've not dealt with them but remember posts by those that have.

I've emailed them a few times and never got a response. So, I've never done business with them.

Bought a Ruger PC9 from them a couple years ago, and they sent an LE-only mag with the gun. Finally got them to agree to send a UPS call tag to pick up the mag and send me a post-ban mag I could use. They picked up the LE mag, but I never saw the post-ban mag. They do have decent prices on some stuff, but their customer service could use some work.

Their "customer service" stinks. Several years ago I ordered 2K of Federal American Eagle 147gr FMJ ammo for use in a suppressed weapon. I got 1K of the 147gr ammo and 1K of (IIRC) 124gr ammo. The invoice showed that they had shipped 2K of the 147gr ammo. When I called them and explained that I didn't want or need the 124gr ammo the guy said, "you've got to be kidding," the guy indicated that I was nuts because I got 2K of ammo, even if it wasn't what I ordered. When I explained why I needed the 147gr sub-sonic ammo , he said "send it back, but they refused to send a call tag. I had to pay for the return shipping back, which certainly increased the overall cost, but they did finally send the correct ammo.
Do I harbor a grudge. You bet. There are too many other people in the business, that are much better to deal with. I don't need the aggravation, even if I have to pay a few cents more.
I will never deal with them again.

They are pretty optimistic on their grading, and, as above, their customer service sucks out loud when you try to get them to send the grade you actually bought.

Thanks I think, that was wanted to know, but am sorry to hear. You'd think that especially now when it's easy to find out about companies, they try harder to have better customer service. Thanks again.

Where did you see this link. I may have to go check it out as I live right around the corner from this place. I have bought a few guns from them in the past and have not had any problems due to the fact that everything has been walk in sales. But I do agree that their customer service sucks. I just go there because they often have prices that are significantly lower than anyone else.

KY or SUGI-LUBE?

Stay away from the KY as I have posted threads about a certain IMBEL FAL that I bought from them. I asked is the FAL an IMBEL or a Hesse? The reply was that it was an "IMBEL'! Guess what...it was an Hesse or Century messed up receiver that I have pumped over $4,000.00 and since I live in Kalifornicator I aint got much choice but to remachine with a class 7.

Just called them and they are already sold out. Kinda sucks since the price was $100 less than everyone else.

RE: cheap STG

I dunno I have had my dealer order a few things from KY imports and never had any problems. I did call a few months back about the $190 STG kits. They stated that they had been long sold out. YOu may call and dblcheck. But I am fairly certain that they do not have anymore.

I doubt you would have any problem with their receivers, they aren't that bad.
