What's your choice for a scope on HK91

I have an EOTEC, but out past a 100yrds, it leaves alot to be desired. I really can't swing the $$ for an ACOG. What do any of you have on your 91.
I have already posted the question on the HK forum, but did not get any response yet.

about as quickly as with any other rifle scope, this is a 4 power rifle scope, not a CQB scope. if you want something that can be used past a 100 yards, your choices are either a ACOG, or a rifle scope....most of the red dots like AIM POINT, EOTEC don't have magnification to them. IOR has a BDC for 168 gr illuminated reticle.

I tried using my EOTEC and like you said, not good past a 100yrds. Red dots or the like seem to lose it at about 100yrds and as mentioned, don't have any magnification either. I am gooing down to look at the ACOG again. The Tasco SS is kinda hard to find, just to hold and look at. I see that most every one who has one speaks pretty highly of them.

You can now get the IOR scope with a CQC reticle, donut of death center with crosshairs outside, and bullet drop lines below.

I went with the Hensoldt 10x42 MSG90 scope. Expensive, but what an incredible
scope. BDC'd to 1000 meters. For longer range shooting, get something more than a 4x power.

If you can find it, get the military surplus Hensoldt 4x scope. It's got a BDC that's matched for the NATO standard 7.62x51 147 gr round out of the G-3 barrel (18"?). I have one on my G-3 and it's very bright. I would stay with the 4x scopes because I think they offer the best flexability on a rack grade rifle.

Who has the best deal on IOR and Hensoldt scopes? Where is the best source for finding them?

The Hensoldt I have is a militars surplus scope. I got it through CDNN a couple of years ago. SWFA has prices as low any anyone. Do a google for IOR and see what turns up.

So how good is the Hensoldt 4x24 ?
Cost $500 with illuminator and G3 mount, you could re-sell the mount.
Or would it be better to spend $300 on an IOR?

I have the Hensoldt without the illuminator, it's an excellent scope. Remember that for an H&K you also need a quality claw mount, so factor that in with the price as well.

Century has two. The first is listed as a G3 Scope and Mount $349.87 Code SC 1029.
The other is a Z24 scope and mount $399.87 Code SC 1060.
I have not called to find out the condition of differences between the two.

Hensoldt is the military brand of Ziess and they are excellent scopes (Do the Germans ever skimp on quality?)...I've had the old and new styles and they were always bright and clean. Using one I was shooting 1/2 in. groups with my Springfield SAR-3. If you get one make sure the scope is mounted the right way as there was/is a plastic pad on the back of the mount (I believe the mounts on mine were for MP-5's originally but I could be wrong) that interferes with the sight drum on a G3/HK91 so the importers mounted the scopes backwards on them, making the sight picture canted. I don't know if this is the case with the new batch, but the ones from a few years ago were llike this. The illuminators were selling for $100 so that's not a bad price overall for what you're getting. I've also seen mounts for the FAL for them that would make them very handy.

The Hensoldt scopes use STANAG mounts. They will fit any NATO STANAG mount for any rifle.

Greetings:

I have a HK91, 4X Hendsoldt, factory claw Stanag, MSG90 stock and trigger group. Thus far, since I acquired the rifle a few months ago, and have only been able to send a few hundred rounds downrange, (damned cold here in MI of late!) - I've been very satisfied with performance of the system.

The optics are clear and bright - and have a drop compensator adjustable out to 600 yards.

.02 cents....
