I have a bad habit of buying nice guns and stickin em' in my safe. I know you need practice and all, but I just hate to mark up a beautiful rifle. I have a new DSA STG-58 been sittin in my safe for about 8 months and I don't want to shoot the damn thing, cause I just like lookin at how nice it is. Granted I shoot the hell out of my pistols, except my 1911's---they are just beautiful too. And I do have three AK's I blast the hell out of, but they are junk guns---they are nowhere near the graceful lines and great handling of my FAL's....and now I have ordered an AR-10 A4 carbine---don't know what I am gonna do with that either...I think this is a sickness and deserves a medical name, so I can collect disability and get out and shoot my guns----any advice????

I am not aware of the name of the affliction that you are dealing with, but it sounds as if you don't think that you deserve to enjoy nice things. I obviously don't know you personally so I have no way of knowing for certain, but maybe you really don't deserve to enjoy nice things.

some are to shoot ,, some are not..
a fine beautiful piece of art is meant to be placed in a place for viewing pleasure..

so are fine firearms,,, i have several fal's, that will never be shot,round chambered, etc..

there is nothing wrong with your feelings...

get a display stand from iirc "gunworks", and take it outta the safe when you get home, put it on the stand sit back in your favorite place to relax, and enjoy the view,, i know i am going to order anywhere from one to three,, i am going to ask if he can do a custom one to accomodate 3 fals at stepping height incriments for my 3 collectables..
that way i can enjot all three at one time...

dont let others tell you that all guns are meant to be shot,, the are not..

hey dave, there's nothing wrong with being a marauding barbarian.

i think this condition could be described as "object specific obsessive compulsive disorder" but only if you get the gun out several times a day, wipe it down with an oily rag to keep that slick sheen, and think about it constantly. if not, then you just need to get another to make it seem not so special. the more fal you have, the less respect you have for them. as with women, guns are designed to be shot.

Let's look at this with a modicum of common sense.

FAL's are an assemblage of both new and used parts. As such, they are USED rifles. No matter how you dress them up, they are still USED rifles. A USED$500 rifle with a $1000 paint job is still a USED $500 rifle. It just looks good but it is still USED.

JUST SHOOT the damn things.

If your rifles are NIB, then make those the safe queens.

AP101, think about it. Keep them NIB so that somewhere down the road some other guy will have the pleasure of opening 'em up? Why?

I took a NIB Colt M16A2 out of it's box, pulled the wick and have more than 10K through it. I wouldn't do it any different even if I could. It's only money.

You have the right idea, you buy nice stuff. Nice stuff lasts. Nice stuff makes you proud. Use it before someone else does.
