Latest Century imbel opinions please
What do ya'll think of a century made in brasil receivered L1a1 uppered
fal? Still looking at the only fal in town,at a pawn shop. Metric imbel rec, double feed ramps on bbl, inch pattern upper, folding charging handle, thumbhole stock, straight bare barrel. What's it worth nowadays and is this model any better than the latest ones? Thanks in advance Skyrider |

Its got an Imbel barrel thus its probably better then Centurys beaver reciever of today.
put a few more US parts in it and get rid of the buthole stock and you'll have a decent rifle.

If it has a big lug cut for the inch mags, and it should, it's one of the most desirable of the CAI marked Imbels.
The pistol grip stud will be ground off, but for $100, you can get a nice British complete lower from Tapco. Add yer HTS and stuff, and you have a very cool rifle, and a bunch of spare parts. |

The receiver is the heart of the rifle. CIA made a bunch of these with IMBEL receivers cut for both inch and metric mags and both inch (Australian) and metric kits, sometimes both in the same rifle.
I have a Century-built metric IMBEL receiver with an Australian inch kit, maybe the best of both worlds. It has been an excellent rifle out of the box. I think enough of it that is going to George Gouger's joint soon for a refinish, carbine job and set of claro walnut Ironwood furniture, plus adjustment/replacement/repair of anything George finds amiss. If the bore of the rifle is in good shape, this may be a good find if the price is decent.

I see a few like this at the local shows.
Prices run from 475.00 to 600.00. Sounds like it could be made in to a nice L1A1 post ban rifle. Court in Fl. |
