Barrel-Gas block Question

Sometimes I am like a bull in a china closet. I have acquired a metric barrel without a gas block and an inch pattern gas bloc. So, hey, lets create a monster and combine the two, right. Well now that I have the gas block installed on the barrel a question arises. Do the gas holes line up? Anyone got any info on this one?

thanks

I did something like this a few months ago.
I had to move the gas port in the barrel back about .030.
I used a dimond tipped grinding point to make the gas port hole a little oval shaped.

When finished the gun worked ok on a gas setting of 5.

I am trying to find a link to the post I made.

Here it is,

It took an act of Congress to put that thing on there!! I plugged one end of the barrel and blew on the other end (boy now that does't sound good) and air came out through the gas port. Think I'll shoot and just see. If it doesn't work I can't see why there would be a problem with just re-drilling the gas port for this gas block. I really do not want to take it off.
