The McClure-Volkmer act, also known as the Firearm Owner's Protection Act provides that a gun owner traveling from point A to point Z may travel THROUGH any state, regardless of their gun laws, provided that it is legal for the owner to possess the firearm in both A and Z.

You may stop for normal stops, i.e. gas, etc and for over night stays.

The firearms MUST remain locked in the trunk of your car, or in some sort of container.

I am looking for a specific citation.

I don't think this available as an online reference but I have a hardcopy from a couple years ago that I am going to replace with a current issue this year.
