Vanden Berg locking shoulders are correct now.
Here is a quote from another thread. I just wanted everyone to know that there is no need to adjust .002" when ordering Vanden Berg LS's now. Everyone needs to buy a LS from Ed and support him for doing what is right. Thanks Ed!
"The shoulders that I am producing now all have the locking surface cut at 12 degrees. The change was made as a response to demand. This project (producing and marketing locking shoulders) was first conceived because there was a reasonable demand for and an undependable supply of locking shoulders for FAL/L1A1 rifles. There was also some considerable price "adjusting" taking place for some of the hard-to-find sizes. The information that I could gather from former armorers, who worked on FALs when they were doing their military service, suggested that 11 degrees was the correct angle. General consensus from the membership of this board (and Doug Jones' research) contributed to the decision to make the change. Any businessman worth his salt will listen to his customers. The difference in headspace that the 1 degree difference yields is 0.0017", about 0.002". There is no difference in safety or longevity of the service life of the part. I have always stood behind my parts and services. If anyone has questions or problems, they are encouraged to email me, vandenbe@flash.net I have never turned anyone down who has asked me for help. Thank you for your votes of confidence. Respectfully, Ed Vanden Berg www.vandenbergcustom.com"

Re: Vanden Berg locking shoulders are correct now.
So, we couldn't end the last LS angle thread without it getting locked?

There you go. Proof positive that Ed Vanden Berg is first class.
Edit: I can't spell.

First time I used a VB LS, the bolt would not close on the GO. I was aiming for a 1.632 initial headspace. I removed the LS, filed it back 0.002, and reinstalled. After a few hundred rounds, it now closes on the NOGO. "Setback" was about 0.002. One cause could be the additional wear and break-in because of the slightly mis-matched angles. Nothing more. Hence my comment on longevity.
And if I ever manage to wear one out, which I agree is quite unlikely, I will be more than happy to purchase a new one. Now, maybe we are all through with this nonsense? Ed, please accept my apologies for bringing this up. Have a great Labor Day Weekend. -RC
