L1a1 on a metric reciver ?
g -fal started to answer this question but we got side tracked ..
can i build a L1A1 on a metric reciver ? what kind of problems can i expect ? tia

Yes. You can, and I have.
The only "problem" is that the inch top cover tabs won't work, and the bolt hold open is to fat for, a metric receiver. Also, the folding charging handle won't completely fold down unless you modify the handle or the receiver (one or the other). Otherwise, the build is the same as if you were building a metric kit. Don't forget the breeching washer and the handguard ring!

thanks for the info , so can i use a metric bolt hold open and have it work with the other l1a1 partz?

Yes to the bolt hold open. Don't forget the breeching washer for the barrel. FSE makes a metric folding charging handle, if you don't want to modify your inch and it is a U.S. part.

You can WECSOG the BHO to satisfactory diameter with a file in very short order. The inch BHO is only slightly too fat.
The inch cover is easily modified by removing the tabs. But, folks will scold you for that. Better to passify the purists, and substitute with a metric cover. They don't seem to get as bent-out-of-shape when you bugger a BHO "into spec."
