Inch Dust Cover on a Metric Rifle

I need some help. Tapco is pulling a "VaporWare" with their stripper clip dust cover, and I need a solution to use until they finally do come up with the product. My question is this: Is it possible to use a Inch Dust Cover (i.e. Canadian Stripper Clip Cover) on a Metric rifle?

(btw- as you probably guessed, I live in the socialist state of CA)

Yes it is possiable to use the Inch top cover on the Metric reciever,But you will either have to cut the small cut outs into your Metric reciever with a Dremel OR cut the tabs off of the Inch top cover.HTH

If you plan to use the Canadian stripper clip cover or the one DSA sells for that matter, then you must cut the clearance for the top cover rear tabs in the receiver. Do not cut the tabs off the stripper clip top cover as the tabs have to be there to keep the cover from creeping or sliding forward.

Scout762 nailed it. I have a Kali-legal FAL with the Canadian top cover on an Imbel receiver and the tabs must be in place to keep the cover from riding up to the breach. Ergo, the need to mill the receiver. Damn PRK politicians and their "fixed" magazine requirement.

Bah... Scroo it. I'll have figure out a way use something like a spring loaded cam lock to make switching mags easier (but still require a tool) and just wait patiently for the Tapco cover to materialize.

does anybody who has done the required conversion has a pic of the areas milled? i'm thinking about putting the canadian one on my metric, but would like to see how much "milling" is involved first. also opinions on the difficulty of the task would be appreciated.

thanks for the pic!

so it looks like you relieve about 5/8" of the top rail and about 5/16" below that. how deep is that 5/16" cut?
