another sealer for leaky gas block
At the local parts store they had a small tube of "liquid teflon tape".
Seems to work very well, and the heat/pressure does not bother it. Disassembles okay, just wire brush it off, and reapply. edited later: "Dupont "versachem" thread sealant with teflon" 6ml plastic tube, on a display card. Cost a couple bucks. http://midwayautosupply.com/detailed...iption.asp?457 I tried regular teflon tape on a gas tube, but it just made a mess and got blown out, which did not surprise me. This new dupont stuff seals good when it dries, yet you can still unscrew the tube with just finger twisting (no wrench needed), so it is not so bonding as locktite is--obviously the teflon at work. i do like teflon tape for plumbing cuz you can put it on the threads while wet, and I use enuf teflon tape anways I thot I would try the liquid sealer. Thanks. Would this be in the plumbing section? Have you used the teflon tape?

On an R-1, had to file a thread or two off the end of the tube. Sealed with several wraps of teflon tape (5 or 6) by trial and error to get the maximum thickness of teflon and still be able to screw in the tube. It's still there after about eight hundred rounds (running on 4 instead of 1.5). If you don't max the tape thickness, it will blow out.

I've had the best luck with Loctite 545 thread sealant. Yes, it makes things a little tough to take apart, but it works better than any other sealant I've used, in ANY APPLICATION used.
Also, somewhere in here is a thread titled "Need more gas". Deals with drilling out the gas port . . .. I punched mine out to .125" and it cycles fine set to 5 1/2. STICK A 1/4" DOWEL DOWN THE BBL BEFORE YOU DO THIS! (So you don't ding the other side of the barrel).
