AR10T Free Float Tube Removal Help?

With the Upper in a vice we tried to remove the Fiberglass Free Float tube with a Strap Wrench. No go. REALLY tight. We removed the gas block and gas tube beforehand. We REALLY pulled on it and it would not budge. Both ways.

Are these things Loctited from the factory? Upper is As New and unmolested.

Any hints as to how to lossen this puppy up with out damaging anything? I am trying to trade with a fellow for black furniture.

Also, anyone know who can "Blacken" the Stainless Steel barrel in a reasonable turn around time? Does the barrel have to be removed from the receiver to do so? Re-headspaced?

TIA,

Rick

I took the float tube of my AR10T. The nut wasn't locktited or anything. It was pretty tight but came off by hand. Sounds like the builder on yours had his wheaties that day.
Only thing I can think of is maybe there was no lube or anything (mine had some light oil on it) and maybe it galled on th ebarrel nut. Might try a little penetrating oil.
Maybe hit it with a heat gun for a time also. Since the nut is aluminum it will expand before the steel barrel nut does.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
