Feeding problem

Purchased a second Century FAL. Having tweeked the problems out of the first one so that I now have a shooting machine, I decided the price was worth another purchase. But this one has one problem. There is some rocking movement (front to back) when the clip is latched in place which when the clip is rocked back " \" ( weapon pointing to the right > for purposes of my illustration using a backslash to represent the clip), the round feeding from the right side of the clip will jam against the face of the barrel at the point just before the barrel starts to taper into the chamber. If the clip is pulled back straight " l ", it feeds like a charm. Any suggestions on curing this feeding problem. Should I try to dremel the face of the barrel so that the flat part tapers all the way to the chamber, or should I work on taking the rocking movement out of the clip, perhaps by some work on the underside of the magazine well, or perhaps some work where the clip lug engages the cut out in the lower receiver? I'm a bit hesitant to work on the mag well since I might make some clips with tighter tolerances inoperable in the gun. What should I do?

before somebody jumps on you for calling it a clip instead of the magazine, I'll ask you if it does the same thing thing with different magazines. If so the simplist solution is to have a bead welded onto the engaging surface of the magazine catch/release. I had to do the same thing for two Entreprise receivers. IF you dont have the equipment to do it, boardmember L/FN did mine and did great work at a good price.

If the century receiver is a new production receiver, I would highly recommend having metal added to the face of the mag catch as well. What I am calling the "face" of the mag catch is the flat portion that rest against the mag body while the mag is locked. The new production Century receivers are cut for INCH pattern mags and metric mags will be loose. Increasing the length of the mag catch as well as the depth will go a long way toward solving this problem.
Another solution is to buy inch pattern mags.

Sorry about the clip slip. I shoot a lot of garands and it just comes naturally. Besides, clip is shorter to type than magazine . Then again, mag is shorter than clip. Guess I'll have to break the habit.

Thanks for the advice. I kinda figured the work inside the mag well is where I'd end up. I've used both inch and metric mags and am having the same problem with both. Some of my inch mags are really tight (too much paint I think) so that's why the hesitancy to add metal inside the well. But you fellas have had the right solutions before, so I'll take your advice.
