Santa found me early
Bought a 8mm FN-49 for $300 this week, only thing broke is the spring leg on the gas adjust sleeve. 90 % paint, nice tho patched stock, good bore, 2 piece firing pin. Got home and found the sleeve was cranked all the way closed, might explane the duct tape residue at the front of the stock.
BTW, my firing pin spring stops 1/8" short of the pin end, is that normal? 44 Echo |

44echo - I shot two of my FN-49s this morning. I always strip the bolt whenever I clean the rifles and I recall that on both of these rifles, the firing pin spring is about one coil shorter than the length of the front firing pin section. One coil would be a bit less than 1/8" so I'd say that you spring is in the ballpark.
Just now I pulled out my private stash of new-in-the-wrapper 2-piece firing pin sets and noted that 2 of the springs are the same length as the front pin section BUT the other 2 are actually about 2 coils shorter ! 2 coils would be a bit MORE than 1/8" so take that for what it's worth. Goose |
