Para build question
If I buy a para kit...say one from TAPCO that has all the pieces to it (top cpver, springs, bolt carrier, etc...), do I need any other special parts to mate the folding kit to an Imbel reciever? I conducted a search on this already and I'm pretty sure the ansser is "no". I'm aware that I will need to weld/pin the stock in the open/unfolded position and remove/replace the flash hider if I go with an Imbel kit. I thought I read a post that said I would have to dremel/machine an postban upper to mate to the Imbel lower....Which leads me to question #2. Is there a para lower? Guess I will go search for that now. Thanks for any advice.

To convert a standard lower to a para you will have to remove the stock tang and machine a slot in the recoil plate. If I remember correctly the slot needs to be .200 wide and .125 deep.
The upper will need to be machined to accept the top cover in the gas piston area. It will need a counter bore 19/32 dia and about .080 to .090 deep. The depth might vary depending on the cover. You can grind the nose off the cover to avoid machining the receiver. |

Don't grind the top cover! They are too hard to find. Pay
the fifty bucks and have it done right. You'll be much happier with the result. |
