Unhappy bipod application...

I've got the Fal/STG58 without the cutout or collar for the bipod attachment...however is there a way to attach or modify the bipod so tha it would fit on the sling grove on the barrel...??

Remove sling and carefully dremil a slot at the 12 o'clock posistion in the sling ring to fit, and a little wider, the stop on the inside of the upper bipod bracket. Of course you'll have to put the front sling swivel somewhere else or get an aftermarket clamp on swivel but the biod should work OK.
I don't have a pic of the bipod cut barrel so you can compare the bipod ring but someone may post one for you or you could find a bipod cut barrel if you need to look at it.

The width of the slot is what controls the angle the bipod with swing back and forth. Look at your upper bipod bracket and make sure it has the little removable thingy in there, sometimes they fall out and go missing. If you take it out you can mount the bipod without the cut in the barrel ring (like you have now) but the bipod will want to swivel all the way around until something else stops it. I don't like em that way but have seen guys mount em like that, maybe from ignorance, maybe that was the way they wanted the bipod, I didn't ask. I had one that was missing the stop when I bought the bipod, after I mounted it and found it didn't have the stop I decided I didn't like it like that so made a new stop from a piece of nail I flattened.
Email me off list, I think I have a bipod cut barrel out in the garage and I can put it on my scanner.
