A big THANK YOU to sledgehammer for STG he built. He has cured my unFALness. BE HEALED, MY SON!!!!!! Yesterday, I took him a bag'o'parts and today>>>>>>Behold, and a FAL appeared, saying "Shoot me, I am yours. Stroke my bore afterward with Hoppe's and I will reward you all the days of your life with "HITS". Prepare to drive your enemies before you and hear the lamentations of their women.<<<<<<<<<<<<
And so it was, CHET began firing right handed, ignoring his southpaw nature. And lo, not-so-lo sledgehammer appeared and laid hands on the FAL and thus it was zeroed. And then, "HITS" were scored which begat more "hits" which begat more "hits" and thus, the paper was left with a plethora of perforations, some touching, some not touching, but all were together as one on the paper and in the eyes of the shooter.
And so it was that the other shooters began to rend their garments and cry out saying, "CHET, what hath thou wrought? Doth thou not use the same implements as us? Doth thou not load the '79 Hirt in the mags?"
And lo, CHET began to recount the teachings of his Marine Corps PMI for the heathen and instruct in the ways of of the "Hitites".

TEX762 gets the assist for sellin' me the DSA handguards Sat for this one.
Put around 20 mags through it of Hirt with only one stove pipe (during gas adjustment shots).
Could not be happier with this weapon.
I would recommend all DFW shooter's check with sledge before you go to someone else on buying receivers and assembling kits.
Obviously, he is very competent.

And Chet reappeared when the voices of the brethren said, "Chet, how hath thou brought forth the perforations in such a manner? What doth thou's FAL have that mine does not?"
Chet embraced his humble FAL and began to extol it's virtues in a meek voice," Brothers, please, do not harken me to the cave with the sasquatch. But, instead, recognize the humble origins of my FAL as a result of my humble means. It's receiver was wrought behind a coffee bush in the low hills of Brazil. Many of it's parts were plowshares from the land of Shwarzenegger hammered into Austrian beauty. And lo, they may have been hastily reparked by Century and the meticulously cut threads on it's barrel obiliterated. It then wound it's way through the Halls of Tapco where Chet procured it for the paltry sum of 199 silver pieces with Chet allowing 20 of the pieces for an observant stockboy's vigilant attention to detail.
Chet sought help from his fellows both near and far. Tex762 brought DSA handguards from the piney woods and sledgehammer brought a DSA pistol grip from the edge of the West. And lo, a spirit sprinkled little bits of metal from somewhere in the American continent and thus, Caeser blessed the weapon and it's components. The Virgin Reno also came forth and withheld the agents of her wrath saying "Chet, with you I am greatly pleased. You have the patience of Job, even when complying with my most arduous and vile laws. Go forth and and sin no more.
So Chet, with the blessed components, turned the whole lot over to sledgehammer who rendered a humble weapon, without a new finish and without glass optics, and without a plethora of dodads and widgets. It was simple and cheap and it scored hits.
And Chet was happy.
