Has anyone tried the AK style muzzlebrake on the FAL? I know they work real good on AK's, how about for the .308?

DixieJarhead has a '74 brake and seems happy with it. There's a pic or two on the board somewhere.

NO SLANT BRAKES! Just the AK-74 style brake. I had one sitting around from my AK days and thought it would look cool on a short barreled FAL. Some of the muzzle brakes offered these days just look ugly.

AK-74 brake
They work well, the guy shooting to the side of you will hate your guts because of the blast and noise.

I had one on an STG and thought it looked good. Kid of different. I eventually took it off, cut off the muzzle threads, and the muzzle is bare now.
Stimpsonjcat would be proud.

I have a Chinese AK-74 style compensator on my 17" barreled FAL. It is so damn loud that everyone at the range stops shooting and looks at me when I fire it! I have not been able to fire it in the dark, but I can see a flame blow out of it on a cloudy day! It has to go........

RECEIVED ONE TODAY FROM TAPCO. IT SNAPPED RIGHT ON THE ORIGINAL G1 FLASH HIDER LUG AND LOOKS REALLY COOL. G1 IS NOT ASSEMBLED, BUT WILL REPORT ON THE MUZZLE BRAKE WHEN TESTED. I LIKE THE IDEA OF A DETACHABLE BRAKE ON THE G1 BUT IS IT LEGAL TO HAVE IT THIS WAY SINCE IT IS ONLY A MUZZLE BRAKE ?

IT IS ONLY ILLEGAL TO HAVE A BARREL WITH A THREADED MUZZLE OR A FLASHINDER ON A POST-BAN RIFLE! THE G-1 HAS A LUG FOR HOLDING THE EVIL FLASH HIDER, NOT THREADS, SO QUICK-DETACHABLE BRAKES ARE FINE! (Friendly, helpful, good-natured hint to woody: All caps means you are yelling. Kill the caplock unless you really are yelling. We are not all deaf.) One of the farmers, either Dirtfarmer or Farmer From Hell, I can never remember, build a really nice FAL with an AK brake and posted photos. I would try a search.

Aren't these brakes made from turned down Grenade launchers or blank firing adapters? I was planning to use the launcher ( turned down of course ) to make my own type of muzzle brake.

Insider - Mine works great - 14.5" barrel with 3" perm attached AK74 MB. I call it the "FN74"
Never seems to cause any problems at the range - of course out here, we don't use covered ranges.... LMK if this pic works for you - with yahoo most of the time you have to have an account with them to see the pics... ![]() ![]() The FN74 rules!
