Will there ever be any 5.56 parts kits from Brazil?
I know there are SAR-4800s and conversions out there,
but how about some parts kits in 5.56, or some of the .22LR "Trainers" that Imbel made? |

Great question!! I hope someone out there can provide some answers. I've got a SAR4800 and am interested in the 22LRs also.

If you want a complete Imbel 22 trainer Fal, contact Sarco. They have/had the ones imported by Dealers Warehouse. Its possible DW kept one or two also.

Could be some Argentine .22lr kits in country by this time next year. I sure hope the deal with Recon materializes.

Rav offered me one of them when he first brought them back
but at over $2000 the novelty of a .22 FAL starts to wear off. However, reasonablly priced parts kits plumbed to a new or preban receiver starts me thinking about things like this.... http://www.printroom.com/EditAlbumPh...=0&view=actual Or maybe a "Squirrels Must Die" WAC aluminum FAL in .22 as the ultimate squirrel arm of the free world! As I see it you do not want to pay the price for new Imbel product. Right now DW sell barrels for 170, handguards $80 and etc at similar savings. Just think what they would ask for new kit?
When you say resonably priced, it mean surpluss, but from where? Their Police, military? Why they would phaze out relativly new guns? I would not hold my breath waiting... Last edited by WJ-Polish Guy; September 08, 2002 at 06:32. |

My 22Lr conversion is at the machinist getting a price qoute for manufacturing as we speak. The system is much better than the FN 22 system. All small parts such as spring and extractor parts are Ruger 10/22 for ease of spares.
I will have my first couple units by the end of the month. |

Rhineland1,
Your web site says .22lr conversion kits in "Fall of 2003". You just said you will have some of the first ones in a few weeks. When can the consumer (me) expect to be able to purchase and receive one of your .22lr kits? cap |

I agree WJ, no holding of breath.
NIB Imbel parts imported by TDW may be pricey, but they are nice. I have 2 barrels and a set of handguards to have replacements on hand for SAR-48s I also thought the NIB striped Para lower, folding stock , bolt, carrier, cover, springs and sight were fair game at $500, especially considering what DSA had asked for their cobbled up kits a couple of years ago… And the $695 Recon is asking for an Argie Para kit without a barrel. I don't know what the 5.56 conversions run right now, but who knows… With the occasional SAR-4800 mousegun going from $1200 to $1400, the NIB Imbel 5.56 kits Mr.Pogo mentions may just have a market niche. I suspect the issue of importing any NIB parts has as much to do with Imbel's ROI as it does with TDW's. After all Imbel's not really in the aftermarket parts business...But a guy can day-dream. I have know Idea how long the 5.56 and .22 versions have been in use, maybe 20-25 years? Are de-milled parts kits even a possibility? The rarity of an imported, NIB, Imbel SAR-48 .22LR trainer may be fair at over 2K, but Rhineland1's very proper .22 FAL looks like it can easily steal the show. Very Nice Indeed Rhineland1!!!
