Just recieved the two TAPCO US made gas pistons I've had on order from TAPCO, they were back-ordered for a while. I have always used DSA's before, decided to try the TAPCO ones. They look like they are going to be very nice.....I mic'ed them at .430, which is good!!! Any bigger and they may hang up in a fresh gas tube, but the DSA ones I have got before were all .429, and let a little more gas leak past the piston than I would like. They work, but I've had to close the port down a little more to make up for the size. These should be "just right"!!
Finish on them looks nice, and they are clearly marked "TAPCO.COM USA" so there is not doubt they are US made parts. Another really nice product from TAPCO at a good price!!!

I don't know, I haven't seen FSE's, but everything else I have seen from FSE has been very nice. I have used thier HTS sets, fake flash hiders, folding charging handles, they have all been well made and they stand behind them. Probably another good choice. I would be curious as to the size on the FSE's, I have always wondered why the DSA were a little small, I have never pulled an original out that was that small. On a gas piston, .001 seems to make a difference sometimes.

If all goes well, I'll be test-firing my L1A1 tomorrow with the TAPCO piston I bought a few months back. It too was about .430, and I actually had to smooth out the inside of the gas tube to keep it from binding. I don't have any other US pistons to compare it with, but I won't hesitate to buy another in the future for my other projects.
