Can I install a metric barrel on an Isreali receiver?
I have the chance to buy a Onyx Isreali receiver and want to install a metric barrel on it. Will this be a problem? Also, are all of the onyx imports preban (89) or how can I tell?

I have checked three Izzi HB kits and the threads are different than the 1"-16 of the metric kits. I don`t remember exactly what the pitch was , .0597 or something in that area.
I have seen Izzi light barrel kits advertised with a thread of 1"-16 so it might depend on the receiver. The threads can be re-cut , I think Enterprise at one time offered this service. |

Isreali and Indian threads are 25mm - 1.5tpmm
Standard FAL and L1A1 threads are 1" - 16 tpi It's an easy job to recut the Isreali threads to fit the standard FAL receiver (1"-16tpi), mainly because the metric male threads on the barrel are smaller diameter than the imperial female threads in the receiver. You can do it at home with a hand die and handle. About $45 from MSC supply, or most FAL smiths will do it. However, to re-cut the threads the other way around would probably be a lot more work, without a machine shop anyway. I sure wouldn't mess with a receiver that rare and valuable. In fact, it would be best just to forget the whole idea and just send that receiver to me to use

it might screw right in since the standard metric threads are a little thinner. but I'd say it probably wont. You should look for an Isreali barrel.
