I have recently purchased a DSA STG58 with an 18" barrel and their standard muzzle BRAKE. The rifle will shoot aprox. 20" low at 25yds and 100yds with the front sight at its lowest setting. I forgot to mention that the rifle also has one of the after market para-style rear sights with the windage knob. DSA was very helpful and sent a shorter front sight. After replaceing it, it will hit on target with front sigh only three clicks from lowest setting. This doesn't seem right to me but I have never delt with this short of a barrel on a Fal. ANY advice or comments from you more experienced guys would be of great help. Thanks

That's just the way it works and you may have to live with it OR get a taller rear sight system.
A 16" barrel is sometimes even worse!! Just little nubs for front post. Some FALer's will go to the taller Isreali ( Izzy) rear sight and then use a normal height front post. Larry

WARNING: Nit-picking Alert!
Just wanted to get that out of the way. Please, it's muzzle BRAKE. The other one is a mechanical failure. ![]() By the way L/FN probably has these parts for you. Email: larronda(at)springhill-online.net --Radio

I have to set my standard rear sight on "400" for my 18-inch FAL.
The more you chop the barrel, the more you gotta raise the rear sight. I wish those gee-whiz folks making the windage-adjustable aftermarket sights would come up with some sort of elevation adjustment.

As one of the "gee whiz" folks, I resemble that remark! We are working on it Gary! Two new types are in development now. More details soon. Dan.

Hey what can I say about the spelling? Public school-your tax dollars at work
Thanks for the info, I feel better that its not just my rifle. I realy like the adjustable rear sight and would like to keep it on. It just looks like it would be alot stronger than the standard sight. Dan, have you folks thought about offering a taller sight for the shorter barrels? Maybe that would work with adding the elevation adjustment knob. Just a thought. Thanks again for the info

Bearclaw, I'm waiting on the machine shop to call me and let me know when the taller Izzy/inch Para rear sights will be ready. These should cure the "short barrel blues".
Gary, they ain't gonna look like that one. I do think you will really like what we have come up with, Dan. |

Well you are going to have to get in line. I have a bunch of folks that might get a rope out if you got one ahead of them.
The sights are made here in Cleveland, TN. at VOW, we do more than just grips. We built the sight that is on your rifle now. The others are in development, can't/won't give any more info than that at this time. Dan.

Dan, sorry I should have adressed the "wholy crap" to gary.jeter
I'm new to this whole computer/forum thing. Aside from that I am verrrry interested in one of your new sights when they become available. I was impessed (sp?) with the quality and design of your sight I received from DSA and look forward seeing what you come up with. gary.jeter- was that a custom manufactured sight?
