Odd PG date code

I bought a "T48" PG recently, and after looking at it, it's not a T48 at all.

A few odd things though.

Clearly, it has the "modern" external L1A1 contours and is of course cut for the hide-away trigger guard.

The contour/ shape is not 3L or 8L. X8 has the rear "duckbill" over the finger web, but not the typical protruding upper face of the L1, and X8 wasn't cut for the swing-away guard so it's not X8. The one good photo I have of a 0L shows the duckbill to be non-existant, so that says it's not 0L either. I don't have a good photo of a C1 PG to compare.

Also, it's made by FN. It has the FN ampersand and date code square.

Second, the date code. It's clearly a "D" inside a full square. The bottom of the D alligns with the horizontal, so it's definitely not a "0", and it's definitely not in a diamond.

The stamps are inside on the top (that part that leans out over the web between thumb and finger) not on the bottom of the PG- there are no external marks on the PG, like one would find on a BGS.

So what is it, and when was it made?

What "real deal"? It's not T48, it's L1A1. But made by FN with a date stamp that AFAIK doesn't exist.

Well.....I went back and found the thread and looked at pics of my friends t48 pg and pics of a Luxembourg Fal which has the same pg and compared them to yours and they appear to all be the same....

You mentioned it had FN stamps....of course it would....it was made by FN to go on FN made T48 rifles....

It’s not L1a1....inch pgs were kind of slab sided....this pg has contouring to it....I can’t speak for the stamps but everything you describe infers T48....

OK, it's not L1A1, no esucheon for the popsicle grip screw.

But I've compared it to photos I got from Quantico, NRA, and Springfield, and it doesn't match those PG.

Expand the last photo. Any comments on the date stamp?
