FAL & L1A1 motherlode: receivers, parts kits, parts, accessories, 922r, tools (MN)

I'm going Swiss, so this stuff's gotta go. The parts kits and receivers you see below were once built, but I disassembled them in 2015 before moving to a less friendly state with plans to make them compliant. Time passes quickly and I moved back to MN without having done anything.

I'm listing this stuff exclusively here to make orders easier to track. See photos and/or descriptions below. You'll have to click on the link for most images since the forum limits me to 50 images (I have 256!). If you're purchasing something, please reply in this thread with something like "I'll take items 1 and 10". Some items have quantities greater than one so specify how many you'd like.

Terms: As-is, no returns, no warranty on anything. Please ask any questions you have. Please feel free to make offers, some of this is hard to price. Know that you may be beaten during negotiation by an "I'll take it".

Payment: Payment will be the stated price plus actual shipping. Prefer payment by postal money order or cashier's check, but I'll also accept discreet PayPal +3.5%.

Shipping: Shipping will be actual cost and will vary depending on what you order. Reply in your private message with your address and we'll iron out actual shipping cost quickly. Shipping from MN, local pickup available in MSP metro area. Shipping outside the continental US will be calculated on a custom basis.

Timing:Please understand that I have a demanding job and tiny children so communications and shipping may not happen immediately.

RECEIVERS

All receivers have been built, but none have been hacked on. All are in excellent or like-new condition. All must go to an FFL.

1. Imbel gear logo receiver, numbered consecutively with the next one. ($600.00 SOLD)

PARTS KITS

Note that on each kit, you'll see aluminum on the chamber end of the barrel from being in the vise. It's not bare steel.

9. Numbers-matching Australian 1966 L1A1 parts kit. Typical metal finish with a little corroded-looking spot on the barrel exterior. Wood finish quite nice, also. Laminate handguards. This kit has a superior bore, like new, looks chrome-lined. When this was built, it shot quite well, especially with F4 ball. I've shimmed the rear of the handguards for a tighter fit. ($900.00 SOLD)

10. Another numbers-matching 1965 Australian L1A1 parts kit. Very good metal finish throughout, like new finish on the barrel under the handguards. The handguards and buttstock match perfectly. Like the other kit, this has a killer bore, like new, chrome lined. When this was built, it shot very well with F4 ball, so much so that I won a bet with this rifleósomebody thought I couldn't hit the 12" gong at 200 meters 10 times in a row, rapid fire from prone unsupported. He was wrong! ($900.00 SOLD)

11. Really excellent British L1A1 parts kit with parts from a mixture of factories. Superb original finish on the metal, excellent bore, and particularly nice furniture. These often have beat up buttpads. My favorite looking of all the parts kits I own. I love the stampings, test marks, proof marks paint pen makes, and the hang tag makes it. I built this gun but never shot it, so I can't comment on downrange performance. ($800.00)

12. All-matching Stg. 58 kit with Steyr VCL 140 barrel. Here's the Stg. 58 kit you've been after. Excellent metal finish, excellent furniture, perfect mirror-like Steyr bore. On top of that, it includes original Austrian accessories: an Stg. 58 sling, Stg, 58 cleaning kit, Stg. 58 muzzle cap, and two Stg. 58 magazine pouches. I built this kit and test-fired it only, so no comment on performance. ($1000.00)

13. All-matching Argentine FAL kit built from a new Sarco kit circa 2009. Open ear gas block model with the tall rear sight. New or like new metal finish except for expected wear, like new furniture, like new bore. Also included is the Slo-cat reproduction flash hider currently mounted on the muzzle. I fired about 150 rounds through this when it was a gun. If you want accuracy, this is the best shooter hereóI could achieve 4.5" 10-shot groups at 200 m from a rest using the iron sights and German DM 111. Has a matching receiver if desired, see above. ($800.00 SOLD) for the kit.

14. Matching Imbel FAL kit (only bolt and carrier are numbered). Bipod cut with bipod handguards. Metal refinished in Norrell's, excellent bore, and superb original furniture. I bought this kit because it had the best Imbel furniture I'd seen, complete with storage numbers. Additionally, when it was a gun, this shot very well, 2Ė3 MOA with surplus. I probably shot this the most of all these and never had a single issue. Has a matching receiver if desired, see above. ($600.00 SOLD) for the kit.

15. Another matching Imbel FAL kit, this one a more typical representative condition-wise. Rarer non bipod cut barrel with non-bipod handguards. Metal in typical condition, bore shiny, good original furniture. I built this up but never shot it. ($550.00 SOLD).

22. NOS Indian 1A1 barrel. Yes, here's a rare one. 5 groove, left hand twist. Never mounted, in fact it's incomplete, missing cuts like the sling swivel cut, handguard retainer cuts, and gas port. I've put a Q-tip in the barrel in a failed attempt to illuminate the muzzle. ($300.00 SOLD)

If still available I will take #7 - the Coonan receiver. I may not have enough posts to contact - my email is shovelheaddave75 at the big Y.

7. Coonan type 3 receiver, excellent condition. Matches one of the Imbel kits below if that interests you. Finished in Norrell's. ($350.00)

Many shipments sent

If you sent payment on or before 1/2 I've shipped your order. You should have tracking numbers in your PM box. I almost used all my remaining boxes getting those out the door in a timely fashion (ncreptile's kit is in a diaper box). More shipping supplies inbound.

1851 NAVY I've emailed you.

I am interested in your Coonan L1A1 reciever.

I have sent you two PMs with these questions with no response, so I figure I'll post them here, out in the open for all to see in hopes I'll get a response.

I'd really like to buy this reciever but your reluctance to answer a few simple questions is making it difficult........or maybe this already tells me what I need to know.

Here goes again for the third time......

I am interested in your Coonan L1A1 receiver. I am also reluctant to buy a Coonan after reading multiple threads on the problems being had with Coonan Inch receivers.

You say you built this receiver? Is it an early or later production model? How did it go? Did everything fit? Did the rifle function as it should once built? How many rounds did you fire? Any malfunctions?

Please give me some info brother and I'll post my "I'll take it". If no response this time I'll understand that to mean this reciever is a problem child.

PS........if you answer my questions here in this thread and the build you did on this reciever went off without a hitch, everything fit properly and the finished rifal functioned properly I'll take it. No satisfactory response to my questions......no deal.

Aeroscout, PM inbound in response to your "I'll take it". As for the questions, I'll address them right here.

I had zero issues on this and all Coonan builds I've completed. In this case, I built the Coonan L1A1 receiver using the Brit kit posted above. My records indicate that I headspaced it at 1.632" using a #4 breeching washer and a #3 locking shoulder (0.262") and successfully function tested and sighted it in at 200 m in my standard 40 round test fire session. Personally, I tend to headspace tighter in the 308 range instead of the more generous 7.62x51 NATO or quoted Canadian/British spec range.

Regarding Gunplumber's and others claims that Coonan L1A1 receivers suck, none of us have reason to doubt that the examples they've examined have the flaws they've illustrated. Personally, I think that unless a receiver is manufactured to spec, it sucks, but by that definition, everyone's receivers suck at least some of the time.

Edit: I just watched Mark's Coonan build videos. Holy crap, I did NOT encounter anything like the problems he's been forced to fix. That's utter bullshit from Coonan.

Per PM Done.

Thanks Dan, sorry that I got a little impatient. I didn't want it to get away from me if it was a good receiver. Clearly it is. I'll take it.

I've marked sold items, decremented quantities, and responded to offers. I've also lowered prices on items that generated no interest.
