You must buy a $50 permit to buy ammo in kali after the first of the year. Plus you must buy your ammo from a dealer. Next year you must pay for a back ground check to buy ammo. It's a big can of worms and I bet ammo sales are going through the roof on the borders.

So are the inspectors who look for fruit and vegetables coming in going to be trained to find ammo, too?

I think if the kali folks want ammo bad enough they will just fly across to Vegas and rent a car then drive it home. If they buy with cash and empty it out of the new boxes there is no way to say when the ammo was manufactured. They may impound it and make you prove when you bought it like they impound cash but that's a lot of trouble for them.
It does bring up many issues like straw purchases, you buy ammo for someone else then who is to know? Is the $50 a monthly charge to buy ammo and is the back ground check good by the month or by the purchase? Will the FFL have to keep records of the ammo purchase and for how long? Will the buyer have to keep a record of an ammo purchase and could you use that record to say any ammo you have was bought at that time? Will you have to prove you own a gun in the caliber you buy? It's just the start of ugly in kali when it comes to ammo, odds are they will just use ammo as an added on crime in a charge.

Is everybody missing the big picture?
All these new laws do is ban guns by banning the ammo. Maybe not an outright ban on ammo but an eventual ban. People will get caught with ammo and no receipt or whatever proof of purchase that's required. They'll be arrested and guns confiscated. It's unlikely they'll ever be allowed to own a gun in California again. Some will go to jail, some to prison. Casual gun owners will find it too expensive and troublesome to own a firearm. They'll give up their guns sooner or later People that would like to own a gun some day will decline due to cost and legal burdens. Face it guys, they won

All's you have to do is go out and buy several Wetbacks and have them run the ammo in to Kaliforny , if they should get caught no problem as long as they're Sanctuary City get out of jail free Wetback card is paid up to date.

It certainly is an object lesson, but it was enabled by the flaming, extreme left wing society so prevalent out there. MOST ( sadly not all ) of the country isn't quite at that point yet, although we certainly should be viewing this as one potential future for the rest of us. And with the left basically owning the MSM and the school system, ultimately they WILL shape the mindset of future generations to the Kali school of thinking. That is their sure fire victory if things continue as they are at present. Up for consideration, the possibility off Kali basically imploding under all their oppressive, deficit spending, snowflake socialism. Wouldn't bother me much, sympathies extended only to those brethren there who, for whatever reason, have limited ability to egress. All of the above being said, it surprises me that the left hasn't used this tactic more. I agree that it may be the single most dangerous one in their arsenal.

I don't see the folks that have to enforce these laws in the rural areas having their heart in it. What kind of priority is checking receipts for ammo going to be? They must have more important things to do.
When they are ordered to check receipts is when the stuff will hit the fan. I just don't see that happening. this whole situation is the result of snowflake emotions, and snowflakes have no backbone to go door-to-door to check receipts. They can't put their cell phones down long enough. |

The real goal here I think, is to make it as burdensome as possible for both the buyer and the seller. The hope being that the buyers will eventually just say fug it, not worth the effort and get rid of their guns. For the sellers they hope to make it so expensive and overly regulated that they will give up on the sale of ammo. In the end the state benefits either way. They get to have more buracuracy and taxs and as users and sellers opt out they feel better that they have done their part in controlling guns.
Its backdoor gun-banning plane and simple. Old Sarge

I remember when Siegfried and Roy's tigers got tired of jumping through hoops,,, one of'em ate Roy,, not whole just a good part of him.
When the electorate in California speaks it's just jibber jabber,,, tigers can sense stupid,,, and when they sense it on a empty stomach look out. |

However, it is kind of nice, if you don't live in California, to have that state as a test bed for these sorts of unconstitutional laws to be tested. If it is unconstitutional then the state statute will be challenged through the court system and eventually be settled. It will also be interesting to see if their do-gooder legislation has any effect whatsoever on the crime rate in the state. We'll see.

I used to work with a guy from the LA area, he is a pretty avid 3gun and IDPA shooter. When up visiting our big customer in Oregon I would take him to the local gunshops to buy standard capacity mags for his AR. I asked him about using these in public...he responded that everyone he shoots with use the 30 rounders and the cops he shoots with don't give a rip....this was about 2 years ago so things may have changed. Most of the rank and file have bigger problems than enforcing petty gun laws....that doesn't mean that there aren't a few ass holes out there.
