S&W 317

I had a table at the gunshow this past weekend trying to par down the collection.

Was doing a pretty decent job till I came across something that just spoke to me. (It's a no lock, 8 shot, Airlite J frame.)
Specs say 9.9oz...

I'm no stranger to Smith .22 revolvers. Have a pair of 17's, a 18 and a 34.

But I REALLY like this thing.

Took it out Monday and my best group of ~10 cylinders:
5 rounds covered by a quarter,
1 round peaking out the side of the quarter
2 rounds close but not touching about another quarters diameter above the group (my fault)
It's a keeper

I went to tell various buddies, but apparently everybody knew already and just didn't tell me.

$400 well spent.

Front sight was a little hard to see part of the time, I'm probably going to paint the top, that's my only complaint.
I notice no one ever debates whether a .30 is an adequate stopper...

I know what you're saying. I had one some time ago and it shot very well. I've had most all the S&W .22's and still have some, but the 317 carries well. I let a friend shoot it while training his dogs and he just gave me money, instead of my gun back. He likes it that well. I guess I'll find another..........

I have one with the damn lock ... I unlocked it and threw the key away ...

it's a 3" - 8 shot - J frame - RB ... has a green "glow" front sight ... adj. rear

even with the lock I had to have it ... glad I bought it !!

one of the best little 22 shooters I've ever owned !! ... Fact !!
