Need to obtain taps, die for thread chasing...

Where should I look for the 1"x16 barrel tap and die and the 9/16"x24 tap for the gas cylinder support? My local machine shop doesn't have them, and they're kinda expensive from the Travers catalog. He says he has the #10x32 mag catch screw tap.
I have two Imbel gear receivers and two Imbel kits to build. These will be my first builds, and the handguards relief cut is not yet to the triangle web. GP's videos and book make it look so easy.

Amazon is a lot cheaper, but God knows what the quality is.

Depending on your kit, you most likely wont need those taps and die. I have all of them and have never needed them on any of my builds. Lube the threads and work them together for awhile and usually that does it. The 10/32 is a good idea, get several and grind one down to make a bottoming tap.

Don't grind the tap down it probably won't cut very well just buy a bottoming tap.

WTF not? I do it all the time at work Seems to be a good way to use taper or plug taps that get chipped on the ends. .

You really need to step away from the "Tools", friend.

98% or better GL Imbels, DON'T NEED WORK OF ANY KIND....

If you have Imbel kits, and Imbel receivers, its likely you'll rejoice in the happy union those wonderful components can/will be.

Take the process one step at a time. DON'T over think it.....after all, its not like your trying to build a current DSA/Coonan...

I chased the threads on my rifle, but that's because it is built on a Century receiver and it needed it. IMBEL parts all came from a government arsenal and should go together like, well, they were made for each other. Try to put the rifle together and hand time the barrel before you chase the threads. They may very well not need it at all.

I've been a member of the Files for years. The only time I recall someone needing the taps you're searching for are when they built on one of the later production Century/Coonan/DSA receivers. Everything before these usually fit together acceptably.

I usually buy ToolMEx .... the German's helped the Poles tool up, so IMHO you get German quality with Polish prices. Win-Win.

https://www.suncoasttools.com/ has good prices on their products.

It does not hand time properly. It is very rough to screw the barrel into the receiver threads. These are new Imbel receivers.

Make sure that the breech face is not contacting the inside of the receiver.

So is mine, put some Neverseize on the threads. Imbel to Imbel = no machining required.

4x401 Don't be a DA. Try and pay attention. You may learn something. I use stuff till it wore the fu$k out. You can grind down a taper tap and it wI'll cut but you have a plug tap not a bottoming tap. A bottoming tap cuts
2-3 threads off the bottom. It would be hard to grind that. I'm talking taps under .25". Danm some of you need to relax...
