British Army Armourers Codes

In the sticky at the top there is an extract from the EMER which contains phrases like:
29. Barrels which pass the test should be marked “H” with a 5/64 in. steel stamps on or near one of the reinforcing flats. Barrels which fail the test are to be sentenced “BR” and the rifle is to be sentenced “Z”
My friend John has just published an explanation of these codes on his website along with his other articles on various armourer topics.

Very interesting indeed. Especially interesting to see that "Z-F" refers to a potentially repairable problem, albeit at the factory level...seems like any time I've seen Z-F referenced in actual practice, it resulted in the firearm being scrapped. I suppose in theory the factory could replace a receiver...but it seems like the British never did that, while the Aussies and Kiwis did.
