Picked up a Chilean Mauser. Info needed

So at the gun show today I saw a very nice looking Mauser. It says Modelo 1912 and is made by Steyr. It still has a ton of life left, bullet test passed with flying colors. And when I looked down the bore there’s no pits or rust, the barrel is in fantastic shape. It’s chambered in 7mm and the guy gave me the bayonet for it and box of ammo. Paid 175$ for it, he didn’t seem to know anything about them. How’d I do on price?

Ding, Ding, Ding, we have a winner. 7mms are harder to come by. At that price, It would be in my home with its brother. 7mm ammo is a little harder to find but out there and I like shooting 7mm. 7.62s are more common and I see them in the $300.00- $400.00 range here.

Good! I took it out to the range just now, shoots well. A little high but easy to compensate for. Finally got me a Mauser.

NICE Find --Does it have the Intricate Cartouch on the right butt stock ?
You can Make 7MM x57 out of 270-30.06 etc ,, Cast boolits will impact at a lower point of aim !

Yep, it has the coat of arms cartouche on the stock and on the receiver. Says 1912 underneath it on the stock. The numbers on the receiver and stock match.

What you found is kind of rare. Please don't sporterize it.

My buddy brought over some 8mm Mauser stripper clips for me to try but they were too small for the rifle. It went straight down into the magazine and got stuck. Seems weird since 7mm is smaller. What stripper clips do I need?

Are you sure they were Mauser clips? Although they may not be universal, they should not fall through. I can send you a variety of strippers you can try.

I found out what I need. Pre 98 Mauser clips. Ordered some up. The ones I tried that didn’t work seem to work on my buddies k98
