Century did it again

I got the Century brake off of my rifle today with a little heat it came right off. There were no pins or solder on the break just torqued on. From the pics below you can see the threads were cut and the barrel behind the threads also. So should have the barrel cut to 18", right now its just under 20" or can I use these threads. Can not get photos to load so links to photos are below.

Had the same thing happen to me except it was my own fault.

I would cut that bit off and have it rethreaded for a piece of mind.

why rethread?

Unless you want the barrel shorter.

Pic is so dark I don't see any "cut" on the barrel.

mark, looks like the cut is length ways through threads. his second pic looks like it has a notch on end of barrel at 12 o'clock.

If it just interrupts the threads, don't worry about it. Recall the L1A1 cut for the flash suppressor key. If it's much deeper than that, yeah, probablyu should shorten and redo.

It is deeper than the key cut not buy much though. I would hate to have something happen that could be avoided. I hate to have it cut but it's for safety in my mind.

whats the goal?

I am trying to figure why you removed the f/h in the first case What was the goal Just to shorten the bbl or to put differant threads for other accessories?

I remember century cutting barrels for the 1994-2004 ban; hence the original key cut.
I don't recall century rethreading and installing brakes or flash hiders.
Can you provide photos of the brake and rifle?

Stoicrabbit's on to something. I've only seen Century cut the treading off and sell naked barrel guns, are you sure it wasn't rethreaded by Bubba?

Photos are working now. I had the barrel checked out this morning by gun smith and rifle barrel is safe to shoot. I'm not completely sold on that decision. I hope it does not effect accuracy. I have a washer and key being shipped so by next week the last parts will be here to put the rifle back to its original configuration. Then I fire it and see what happens but I have not shot the rifle so I have nothing to compare the accuracy to.
