New FEG PJK 9HP

I'm picking one of these up on Monday, old stock but new in the box, and beautiful. I've done a good bit of research and only heard good things about this particular FEG model HP clone, but what do you fellas think? Here is a stock picture

I think I'd like to see it in a shoulder rig.

I have one of those and am quite happy with it. I have run all kinds of odd, loose 9mm ammo through it and it has never skipped a beat.

Great to hear, I was in the shop yesterday shooting the breeze, and saw it sitting in the case at $319 and couldn't believe it. Sat around for an hour talking and handling it, and couldn't pass it up!

I've got the Charles Daly HP. Made by FEG. I've owned 2 other FEG pistols, and they have both been great. They do a very nice polish, and blue.

I was very impressed by the quality of the finish, I saw it glistening in the bottom of the case, surrounded by plastic guns...

I have a PJK-9HP which I got about twenty years? ago. It will eat any ammo that I feed it and is quite accurate. The trigger pull was about 20 lbs when I first got it so removed the mag disconnect and fired a few hundred rounds to smooth things out, now it is one of my favorite handguns.

Got a holster too, from a box of old holsters he had there. Cool looking and fit the hp perfectly! Turns out it is an original WWII era Belgian P-35 holster, how incredible is that! Here's a link of the style

I could make these, the clasp would be the same type, but styled different. Good idea Graham!

Are these clones close enough to the BHP that parts will interchange?

From the research I've done the parts are interchangeable(PJK 9HP), with some minor fitting like 1911 parts, but I have no personal experience. That was one of the reasons I was so enthusiastic about finding one of these!

Good looking guns.

There used to be a website: Decoding to FEG Hi Power. However it's now become an e-book:

http://www.amazon.com/DECODING-THE-F...6154795&sr=1-1

I don't kindle so not sure if it would be readable on a computer.

Main point with FEG hi powers is you want to make sure it has a hi power barrel and not a S&W 59 style barrel.

The tell tale sign is the oval shaped frame pin viewable on the right side of the frame to the rear of the slide stop pin and trigger pin. FEG Hi Powers have the pin FEG S&W 59 clones don't.

The FEG Hi Powers will take all FN/Browning parts.

Check out Greg Cote for Mec Gar FN Hi Power mags. He usually has the best deal on mags. He's moving his business at the minute to a more gun friendly state:

I really like the blueing on those FEGs.

If you're interested, here's a couple links showing how to remove the mag safety.
http://forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?t=133740

http://230grain.com/showthread.php?1...ots-of-pics%29

I removed the mag safety in my really worn Israeli FN, haven't gotten around to it in the other 2.

When I re-installed the trigger pin I pinched and broke the trigger spring. Bought a set of Wolf springs to replace the trigger spring. Found that the factory springs looks to be better quality than Wolf springs.

I find I like being able to lower the hammer without having an empty mag in the gun. Removing the mag safety improves the trigger pull a tiny bit too.

I am generally the lone dissenter on these .... and of course mine may have been a Friday afternoon pistol but it was the single greatest POS I ever owned.!! It didn't group it patterned ... function was only about 80% and after less than 500 rounds the locking shoulder was moving back at an alarming rate (it had raised a sharp burr on the frame !!). If it were not for the registration/accountability issues here I would have hired a boat just so I could have dumped it in the sea..!!! New in 1987 BTW.

I am however glad to hear that most people are happy with them..... I just can't get that bad taste out of my mouth..!!!

Thanks for the links Drobs, I've been considering removing the mag safety, so I really appreciate the info. And thanks for the input Andy, I'll have to get some more rounds downrange and hope for the best, so far it's grouping great! Actually sitting here admiring it
