PMags for 10 bucks

DSG arms is running a deal on PMags. It's 10 packs of the regular sided mags for 100 dollars and 125 dollars for 10 packs of the mags with windows. This is a limited time offer. Merry Christmas.

I guess the Marine Corps putting the kibosh on plastic mags really has created a glut of these things.

No, actually the Marines changed their minds. Can't remember where I saw that.

The reason there's a bunch of inexpensive PMag's on the market, is that Magpul has brought out a new generation (3) PMag and these are the older versions. At least that's what all my distributor emails have said.

Oh well.

I've been running the same four 20-round AR mags since '89.

I'm gonna git me some more one day.

They should throw in a free tactical hat and I would consider the P Mags. Everyone should have a tactical hat.

They are giving you a patch and now you want a hat as well. Some folks are never satisfied.

First rule of self defense, never wear a tactical hat, or patch, or have stickers on your car...

Maybe you could just wear it around the house.

The NEW P-Mags are out but it took a lot longer then expected.. We have had them at the store for awhile now but are moving out the others first..

Over the last year we've had the Reg NO Window Blk P-Mags on sale 5 or 6 times now for $11.00 a pop.. Sell em like crazy I know that..

I like the P-mags for run and gun (3-Gun) but still use 20's most often when shooting. I suppose having a fat stack of P-Mags is good for invading zombie hoards and SHTF duties as well..

For reg range use I'd suggest giving the Thermold 20rd mags a good look, we sell them for $5.00.. Of the over 1K we've sold to date not a single complaint has been lodged....

Keep an eye out. I've actually been following the sales from different sources for about a month. Thinking of getting some for 3-gun. Prices are steadily dropping on Gen. 2 mags.

I've never ordered from DSG, do they have a good reputation?

I just got an order of these in today, fast shipping. Be aware that these do not have dust covers. Apparently Magpul only ships covers with the newer Gen3 pmag, but the covers can be bought separately.

No dust covers? I bought 20 gen 1's when they hit the market and they all came with covers. All the newer ones I bought this past year came with covers. Smell's fishy to me.

Bullshit! I received 20 of these on my last order and all came with dust covers. I have never received Pmags without dust covers in all the years I have been ordering from these guys. The last order just came in last week.

I think these are the ones I received......

The GEN M2 MOE is identical in form and function to the older model PMAG except that the optional Impact/Dust Cover is now sold separately.
I think Dan44 is right, these are sold as part of what they now consider their economy line. They are individually bagged and I see no dust cover in them.

The official word from Magpul, over on their ARFCOM forum, to the query of how many PMAG's can they squirt out in a single day:

"Oodles."

Panic-buy if you must.

But the demand for these things at higher-than-normal prices will soon be exhausted. Once all the mall-ninjas fill their sock-drawers to capacity, the prices will come back down.

The dealers who are taking "back-orders" at over-price levels already know that they are going to have to do a LOT of work - for nothing - to deal with all the CANCELLED back-orders when their competitors soon start offering that product at considerably lower prices than the back-orders.

The DSG Gen 3's are less than $15 backorder though.

In that case, they will still have the problem of having thousands of cancelled back-orders when the place down the street gets a truckload (at that same low (and correct) price, and their truck is still 10-days out.

There is a a thread on ARFCOM (since 2008) that will keep you apprised of who has AR mags in stock: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_17/40...is_thread.html

According to some other threads on ARFCOM, MagPul is currently doing all their casting in black, so the delay getting other colors will be a lot longer.

I'd like to know about the .308 PMags, as well. If the panic subsides, and no onerous legislation passes, I still hope to get a DMPS LR-308.

Othello,
The site you posted is for teflon coated, aluminum AR mags, not for P-mags. The mags have the Gen 3 P-Mag follower. Still back ordered a 10 pack.

Dan

added: here's the addy for the P-Mags. They're taking back orders up to midnight, so just under 2 hours. Paid Back Orders will ship first, when ever DSG gets the mags in stock.

The Army backpedaled on the PMAG ban (which I'd heard was being pushed by Colt, who's not having a lot of fun in military sales these days): http://www.military.com/daily-news/2...magazines.html

The Marine ban has been formalized, but that's because the M27 IAR is now an issue SAW and has the H&K magwell that had necessitated Magpul making the EMAG for the Euro weapons. The M3 PMAG rolls the EMAG features into the regular PMAG, making it compatible. But the M3 isn't available just yet and the Marines haven't tested it.

Correct. I didn't want to start a new thread for the standard mags since it was the same company... Just wanted to pass along the deal. Looks like all the backorder deals are done now.

Shipping may take a while, but hopefully they will show up eventually...

Congrats to DSG arms for taking backorders at the pre-panic price! You certainly have my repeat business.

I don't think Colt has really made magazines in years, perhaps decades.

I do know that Colt makes a few models of 6920 that ship with PMags & Magpul furniture sets though.

I've sold a BUNCH of them, many other manufacturers now ship W/P-mags as well. Still a good number come W/Aluminum mags though..

Yep, the 6920's with M-4 or SuperStocs have alloy 20's, but those aren't made by Colt. Get a flashlight (or stand in bright light), hold the mag with the catch slot facing you, push the follower down, then look just below the opposite side feed lip in the front half of the magazine for the actual manufacturer.

I assume at some point they may have made their own, but it hasn't been in a long, long time.

Whether Colt makes them or not wasn't the point. Whether Colt could get a contract to provide mags along with their 'patented' M4s to the government was, with them as the middleman between the outfit making the mags and the government. Colt is reportedly very concerned about their eroding military sales - they lost the M16 contract to FN on both quality and cost issues and now not only do they have to deal with the usual government mag contract letting to small/minority business, they are looking at H&K getting the nod for new mags as well as Brownells. Way I heard it, Colt was trying to keep the number of firms they had to compete with down by influencing the Army.

Just a couple out of my stash..
I meant not available to the Corps as a whole for testing yet, not that they weren't out there released already.

The decision to ban these in the Marine Corps came from 1 guy... some 3 star who thinks aluminum mags are the best ever to be designed.

The whole deal about the earlier PMAGs not fitting in the IAR is very true. A design I'm sure H&K did on purpose. When my unit got these and we did the test firing, it took 2 Marines to pull a standard aluminum mag out from the mag well. Seriously. Personally I think the M27 is a huge waste of taxpayer dollars. A badass rifle in itself, without a doubt. I'd love to have one. However, replacing a belt fed weapon with a magazine fed one is stupid.

The M249 SAW is a very temperamental gun. While some of them work flawlessly, most do not. When they work, its a lifesaver and awesome to shoot. BUT... Most are straight up pieces of shit that failed when they were needed and to no fault of the operator.

Now there are guys that have a loadout that is almost comical. Instead of 3 or 4 SAW drums, they have 20+ mags on them! Can you believe that?!

Getting back to the topic, I used PMAGs all through afghanistan because i refuse to let stupid rules come between me and my safety. Same reason I had a charging handle with a bigger latch and a Magpul BAD lever

Yanno, I always thought the USMC should let the e-3's to e-6's pick the weapons they would carry into combat, I know that is a mighty bold statement, probsbly pick the ak47, rpg7, rpk, but the m249 saw has always been marginal at best, but going to a mag fed rifle for the automatic rifleman is asinine. I had 9 saws as a platoon commander and it was a nice fuzzy feeling to hear those saws putting lead down range.
