Old attempt at a T48. Not nearly as "correct" as some others but it was built back when type A lowers were unobtanium, etc. The lugged barrel with Belgian long FH added is exactly the same as one of the T48s in the Springfield Armory museum but later versions didn't have the lug on the barrel.

Some of the various T48s at the Springfield Armory museum. Notice the odd lower in the first pic of the Harrington & Richardson example. Also the .22 caliber T48 & the HB versions. Also interesting to note that all do not have the folding Winter trigger guard. Some use the standard early type rounded TG we are all familiar with. One of you guys with the spare time & the right connections really needs to get access to the "Pattern room" on the second floor of the museum & spend a day taking detailed pics. There are a couple hundred T48s up there of all flavors & varieties.

Was looking at that too. Looks like the handguards have a little more space between the slots?
Or is that just me????

I do NOT care a RATS BEHIND what most people say about collections, and or collectors........ maybe their or guys with hidden collections I haven't seen, BUT I have seen quite a few here, I have seen quite a few whole as well as partial collections from MANY members here on the FALFILES, I stand here today and tell you guys, that DAVESRB is the FAL GAWD when it comes to his collection! He has been the driving force to my nicpic collection, he has been a long distance friend with his help, suggestion and sharing of his vast knowledge, he has become one I call a friend!! BUT he has also been foe.......he has been a major influence in my pocketbook looking like a sun dried up and shriveled useless piece of leather. He is like the local crack dealer trying to HOOK the next unsuspecting participant to molest!
I am just very fortunate that I have only SLIPPED and NEVER truly FALLEN to his spell!!! I am much stronger than his everyday normal target!

Thats my story and WARNING to you unsuspecting future addicts!

I like those, it looks kinda like what would happen if you left an Izzy light barrel and an Aussie L1A1 in a gun safe unattended for too long...

An Ausraeli or an Istralian...

DAMN, lil buddy you just developed a horrible vision....

You are actually looking at one of probably less than 5 or 6 T-48 Heavy Barrel Hand Guards in the US!! And I personally only know of 2!

For snpr41....

#1 - First type used on all EX1s & earliest T48s. Probable use on early Izzys.
#2 - Appears to be a feeble attempt to improve strength by addition of 4 vertical ridges. May have been used w/Ex2s & X8 series?
Cup depth on both above 1/8".
#3 - Standard Belgian trapdoor; obvious replacement for above; circa 1955 onward. Improved by adding 3 ridges to door & increasing cup depth to 1/4".
#4 - Turkish replacement version for BGS & G1s. Poorer quality stamping than above. ridges are somewhat irregular w/crinkling on toe & heel.
