I volunteer to be the receiver. When are you sending it to me?

The wood looks like it hangs over the buttplate, it's hard to find an original B any better than that

Way to go Cole! She will be a beauty.
Repairing the cracked stock is probably worth the effort. Do you know any cabinetmakers/woodworkers?

Welcome to the Files Cole. That's a fine G1 parts kit to work with. And as def said, that's a pretty nice Type B stock. Unless it's missing pieces of wood, the crack should be easily repairable, and with the wood standing proud at the buttplate, the stock should refinish nicely. Keep us posted in the build, and if you have questions along the way, post them up here. These guys are a world of information on the FAL.

I most likely will have questions along the way and the stock isn't missing any chunks of wood, just a crack

Welcome to the Files. Great kit you got there, I remember my first kit was a beat up IMBEL and I bought it just to see if I could put it together. That was the year after my beloved 50.63 and my Colt were both lost in a terrible canoeing accident the year of the ban/AW registration in CA. I didnt even know about this great forum then. I didnt know there was that much interest in the FAL, until much later a friend told me about WECSOG and a some guy named Gunplumber. Been hanging around ever since. I still have a "receiver" piggy bank. Great to see someone your age getting into the hobby. Looking forward to completed pics and a range report soon

Dammn, that just sucks. And a 50.63 at that My heart skipped a beat or 2 when I read it. At least you survived the ordeal. Happened to me(not even comparable to your loss) when I was a kid, lost all my fishing gear when the kayak flipped on the river cause I figured it better to save myself than the gear.

Cole123k, congrats on an excellent headstart on what I hope is a long life of collecting, building and shooting fine firearms!

I'm pleased to see a young person take the time to make an informed choice. Sounds like you've done your homework, figured out exactly what you want, then worked to get it. That's a very mature approach...at any age!

I'm sure the build will result in a rifle you'll be very proud of.
Shoot her well, and shoot her safely!

Cole, be sure to take Blue Monster up on his offer. Nobody does wood better.

It's amazing what some of the guys here can do with restoring wood. Splits and cracks can be repaired stronger than new. Many of the G1's had some nice wood. They are worth the effort.
