alumahyde black

OK I am used to using matte black. Now the only thing Ican acquire in liquid form is semi gloss. Applying this over a parked finish, you think I will get a somewhat not shiny finish? Has anyone had any luck mixing the semi gloss with anything else to matte it down. I don't have an oven and am not intersted in paying like 1.3X as much for 1/4 the paint= 5.2X as much money when I have already invested in paint guns compressor and air dryers etc etc. Please I need some help folks.

I've used the Alumihyde II semi-gloss black in a rattle can, thought the results were decent.
Takes a while to air dry,but if ain't in a hurry, its a fairly durable finish.

Try RAPCO. They have military grade paint in all sorts of black tints. I use their semi gloss black on my FALs. it is an enamial and is quite durable.

Thye are good people too. Give them a call and discuss what information you need.

Where can I buy a spray can of this? My son has an old shotgun with an aluminum triggerguard that is all skinned up. I would like to refinish it but nothing fancy. Local gunsmith said he would Ceracoat it for $50 I would rather go a cheaper route being he only paid $100 for the gun.

can with S&H will be $25. If for $50 he gives you guaranteed job you do the math.

semi gloss and dark park do mix. Straight out of teh bottle it was a bit too light for me. 4 parts dark park grey pigment 1 part semi gloss black and 1 part solvent. This time it came out a bit rough. I just got to put less coats on there and I might be able to fake my parkerizing finish 100%.

That is the main reason I buy by the case. But my first can was just as spendy as you indicate.

And Brownell's was any different?

Guranteed job. What does that mean?

I have been using Rapco semi gloss for years and have had no trouble with it.

The ONLY reason I suggested it was it matches the Imbel black almost prefectly.

You really should bite the bullet an get one can and count your supposed loss. You will not be sorry.

Dunno; but ta my eye, the Alumahide semi matches L1A1 baking lacquer pretty good

For others, I generally use 1643 rattle can HT paint. Different parked parts on a original parts rifel will come up different. How much different than AH vs. dark park, I dunno...or care

drips smudges, built up edge and all those things. I'd soak it in soilvent scrap most of it off and resandblast. Somone who doesn't guarantee their work will just give it to the customer like that.
