[Story]

A 72-year old Minnesota woman driving a 2006 Impala down Highway 72 crossed the centerline and briefly drove through the rough shoulder and into a ditch. She exited the ditch and continued driving, not realizing she had ejected the 15 year old girl asleep in the back seat.

Apparently the driver, Louise Ericksen, had also decided to live her life dictated by cartoon rules of physics. While in the ditch, the car struck a no-passing sign which shattered the rear driver's-side door window, providing the exit for the bouncing teen. Neither Ericksen nor the front seat passenger, an 18 year old woman, realized their snoozing relative had exited the car.

Well, some people are just that fuking oblivious. I would think the tremendous increase in noise from a broken window and the impact would clue folks in that something was wrong and the front seat passenger was 18 and not 72 and probably should've been able to hear what grandma might not have. Problem is that there are many more just like them and they drive too.

She is the "I've fallen and I can't get up" lady for the 21st century. A poster child for the elderly. It's also a non-satirical version of the "Old Glory Robot Insurance" ad from Saturday Night Live.

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- An elderly driver says he thinks his brakes failed, causing him to slam into several students and adults in South Los Angeles on Wednesday.

Preston Carter, who says he turns 101 years old next month, says he went to get groceries at Food 4 Less and was backing out of a parking lot to go home at the time of the accident.

"I lost control of the car. The brakes failed, I think," he said. "I'm sorry."

A OAP sparked panic at a petrol station after driving her car through a hedge — and into a pile of gas canisters.

The elderly driver's Ford Fusion mounted the pavement at a Waitrose forecourt in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, before smashing through a metal cage storing the containers.

Emergency services raced to secure the scene, fearing the canisters had leaked following yesterday's accident - and that a fire might break out.

Fortunately firefighters found no leak.

The woman, in her eighties, told shoppers she had never had an accident before.
