Which is the better scoped sniper rifle...
the MN 91/30 or the M-38/M-39? I'm looking to purchase one or the other. Thanks for your input.

To be technical it is hard to say as it depends on bore condition. I will say that the rebuilt Finnish guns M39 had better machined barrels with nicer bores and are generally more accurate. This has been born out by many members. However you could get lucky with the M91/30, but I doubt it.

Be forewarned that the Finn MN sniper rifles are EXTREMELY rare! There are many, many fake Finn snipers out there, the chances of finding a real one are next to impossible. A real Russian 91/30 sniper now start at 600 dollars and up. Go here for good information on how to spot a fake sniper. It is good to be informed before laying out lots of cash.

i have to agree with virgil the snipers that interordance now offer are fake finns and from what i have seen its kind of a cheesy mount that they have on it.stay away from those.if you can get a 91/30 sniper you wont regret it.

Here is a pic of my M91/30 sniper rifle. It is a 1944 dated Ishy with a 1943 scope. VERY accurate until the barrel starts to heat up. But then, snipers wern't supposed to engage in rapid fire anyway!

The M39 is certainly heavier, and should therefore be more stable when you shoot. I have a vg-exc M39 for $160, added a $45 Darrels scout mount and a used 2.5x20 pistol scope. Works so well that I will get a better scope this summer
