Depending on the bind you are in a zip gun could be worth $1500.
They don't make movies about people who are not in a bind or a'fixin' to be in bind.

If you watch that show for three consecutive weeks your "gun IQ" will be diminished by at least 10 points.

It'll spread to other parts of your life too. Pretty soon you'll be walking around the local gun show with a dowel stuck in the barrel of a 'rifal" with a "Fer Sell" sign in it.

LOL I have to agree you lose points on the gun knowledge skills by watching.

They raced a lever action against a Mac 10 running ( they said at 1200 rpm)
and the lever gun won. The fastest I could get my PS Mac 10 to run was 850 rpm and that was with a Stoney Creek MP5 upper. Of course the kid was shooting ultra lightweight handloaded rounds.

It is still fun to watch them blow things up with tannerite, plus the women are easy on the eyes,LOL..

Yawn can't sleep tonight might as well go for a run before the sun comes up.

Love the new movies with their high tech quality.

one episode, they TIG welded a slug of metal to Glock slide ala AR15 charging handle, was enough for me. it's the OCC of the firearms world.

I have to admit, it saw it was on last night and tuned in just in time to see the M&P BS. I changed the channel, and never bothered watching the rest of it.

I've seen a couple of Glocks recently that had the slide Duracoated in elf vest green that were worth a couple of hundred more than when they were new.
I believe the theory is that when you pull out a gun decorated this way it gives you an edge because your opponent is laughing. That's gotta be worth something. doncha think?

Even the jail-bait daughter can't save this stupid show. If she really is 16 then the parents should be ashamed of themselves for using her in the advertising like they do.

To me, it seems that the entire staff at that joint are just a bunch of "Richard heads".
No more of that goofy show for me. After seeing the prices and the helicopter delivery service, I got bored.

Most small shops and real life offices have staff just like them, i.e. public employee unions; can't make that stuff up.

You can understand that he has saved the otherwise, virtually unemployable, from starvation.
He uses the girls to drag the men in.

No wonder guns cost so much there; he is a saint.

That dude is rolling in $$$$ for having his gun shop filmed.

He regularly pulls out $30 or $40 G's (cash) to buy someones collection.

As soon as his daughter gets a boob job like the wife I'm sure the ratings will go up.

I saw that, but I thought I mis-heard it. That crappy paint job should have been no more than $50.

It would be nice if the History Channel had more 'History of the Gun' episodes with more accurate information and facts. It seemed like they were creeping towards hype over substance several years ago when one of the hosts, a bald "ex-SF"(I think)guy, started in with the " This is the FIFTY CAL, blow 'yer head off at a mile-and-a-half" BS. I mean, obviously it will, but there is a way to be entertaining and factual without resorting to cheesy hype or boring your viewers to death...

Good TV for folks who don't know much about guns, I guess... Just like the awful "Sons of Guns".

I guarantee that's not his money. No gun shop I'm familiar with has that much working cash lying around in a safe, and I don't see anything on his walls that leads me to believe he deals in rare or ultra expensive firearms as a matter of regular business.

Ya want another tip off the show is a complete fake? He has\rents\leases a helecopter to make business deals? F*****g please!! It costs over $2k just to get those rotors spinning, never mind the cost per hour to operate. No gun shop makes the kind of money that you need to operate an aircraft and still make a profit.

Naaah.
Magnum PI was always cruising around in a chopper, and he never had two nickels to rub together.

I think it's fully legit.

Been in his shop twice. First time to look around, 2nd time after they moved to the current location. Never again. They won't even bother with you unless you have a big wad of cash you're flashing. As far as the daughter goes, she already has had a boob job. Too bad they didn't shortne her neck while they were at it. The ole'lady looks rough up close in person. Too may good honest places to do business to get mixed up in that bunch of turds.

Saw an episode where he bought a LAW, and an ammo can full of the rockets. Aren't the rockets NFA items? If so, shouldn't they have to transfer through ATF and pay the tax? If this is wrong, please educate me.

Thanks,

I wonder if he's got a good credit with his local bank(s).

The chopper flights were probably paid for by the producers of that show.

LAW is not reloadable, so it is probably some sort of modified tube with aftermarket rockets for recreational hijinks.

Well, bless her heart!

And, speaking of boobs, I hope the two "gunsmiths" and the "machinist" are getting paid a bunch extra for appearing on the show. I suspect they are not as inept as they appear, but I don't fancy their chances of getting a real job anywhere else.
I wouldn't let them work on my rock garden.

I suspect they are. I can't get over all the instances where the "head gunsmith" is "fitting" parts to a gun they are allegedly making, supposedly filing critical contours while holding the part in his HAND.

How about the time the load of lard test-fired the .458 Lott barrelled action with his hand wrapped around the chamber?

I didn't see that episode, but the Mil used a LAW "Trainer" that used 35mm(IIRC?) reloadable rockets with a small flash/smoke charge as a warhead. It was supposed to mimmic the trajectory of the real 66mm rocket.

We fired a bunch in Basic Training and then once or twice over the years. They were basically slid into the rear of a modified M72 LAW tube and used for cheaper training.

Found this on Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M72_LAW

"A training variant of the M72 LAW, designated the M190, also exists. This weapon is reloadable and uses the 35 mm M73 training rocket. A subcaliber training device that uses a special tracer cartridge also exists for the M72. A training variant used by the Finnish armed forces fires 7.62 mm tracer rounds"

I've asked before, why do they SCREAM the caliber/type of arm they are test firing along with the obligatory "Fire in the hole"? What the hell are they doing? Warning the neighbors in their own adjacent basements?

I've only watched a couple of episodes but did catch the one with the zebra striped M&P. It was obvious to me that it was a product placement add paid for by S&W.

Eye candy: "Do you have that S&W M&P trigger job done?"

Oaf: "You mean this S&W M&P that I'm doing the trigger job on?"

Eye candy: "Yes, that S&W M&P right there?"

Oaf: "It's not done yet, but I should have the trigger job done on the S&W M&P sometime tomorrow"

Eye candy: "But the customer expects to have the S&W M&P tomorrow. Are you sure you can't have the S&W M&P done sooner?"

Oaf: "S&W. Zebra."

Eye candy: "M&P. Paint. $1,000,000"

Oaf: "trigger... M&P... titties... S&W"

Eye candy: "S&W M&P S&W M&P S&W M&P S&W M&P S&W M&P S&W M&P"

There was an episode of This American Life where they described the filming of a reality show. Once you know how its done, it's impossible to watch any of them and take it at all seriously.

That's what I told my daughter. Every time I watch that show I get pissed off at how they rip off their customers.

I gave her the example of my .40 S&W Hipower. I had it sent to a well known gunsmith and had a "Bomar" type adjustable rear sight (with tritium) installed along with a dovetailed front night sight. The cost for the "Bomar type" front and rear sights plus installation, trigger job and get the slide refinished was $355.

There was the one episode where they sell 7 or 8 guns (rifles, pistols, shotguns) to a NASCAR driver for $20,000. Total ripoff. The guns included a Mossberg 500 shotgun, Ruger 10/22, Ruger Vaquero, and some other basic weapons. The only custom gun was a bolt action rifle in .375 H&H with scope.

No way those pieces were worth 20K.

I was gonna bring that one up, too, but my recollection is that he ripped the guy for 25 grand. That's gotta be close to the definition of actionable fraud.

Didja see the dipshit cutting the stock down for that go fast lever gun using a hacksaw?
Not only did he not use a band saw but he apparently didn't give any consideration at all to the angle of his cut. When the Big Dude went to fit the stock the but plate angle was so fuggin jacked up it was ridiculous..

These clown look like a bunch of dumbasses, the wife is a fuggin sea-hag, the daughter with her fake tits is dumb as a rock, the owner and ring leader of this circus certainly appears to be a fuggin crook.. The prices he charges are so inflated it's amazing to me know one has thrown him OUT of a helicopter yet..

I agree with what most people are saying about the show, except I wouldn't say the "customers" are getting "ripped off/robbed".

GP has posted on several occasions that a Widget is worth EXACTLY what a buyer is willing to pay for it, not one cent less or more.

If someone wants to pay $2500 to have their HiPoint duracoated, then more power to them.

I quickly got my fill of "Reality TV" when I was involved in the filming of a new "reality" show based at a gunshop/pawnshop here in town. I was around for the filming of the Pilot episode (filmed by the same producer/crews that film Hardcore Pawn). NOTHING on the show is "reality". The producer initially called me asking if I had any "interesting guns" I wanted to be filmed with selling on the show. I was interested and brought a couple things I found interesting down for them to look at. I was told exactly what to say and that whatever "deal" we made doesn't really have to be binding, as long as we make it look good for the cameras. I was then asked to come back with more stuff to film more episodes, but I politely declined.

Seriously, it was ALMOST funny. They were filming a bunch of us standing around BSing and when someone said something they liked, they'd say "Hey, can you say that again so we can film it from a different angle? Oh, how about you say that and then do xxx, too".

YES this is true and for a long time I wasn't on that page.. But after some discussion and consideration of what he actually was saying I tent to agree with that philosophy.

However in this case I think the fact that these peeps are obviously inflating (tremendously) the value of their work it gives a bad impression and may even suggest to many that this is common practice. This in of itself paints the industry in that used car dealer stereotype & places the regular gunshop in a bad light..

G1911 and masman, thanks for he LAW info. Checked out the Wiki site and a couple of others. Never knew that there was a reloadable LAW until you guys told me, but then my time was 40 years ago and this is "new" tech to me. I thought that the rockets looked awful small.

The explosion on impact had to be one of their gas+tannerite set ups. Another "lie" of omission since the script talked about being able to reload the LAW with "real" rockets.

Thanks again guys,
Dan

I cannot stand that A hole owner dude and his demeanor. I've watched a couple episodes and won't watch again. I would rather watch Sons of Guns and I fuggin hate that ridonkulous circus-babble goatropin' display of numskullery.

If a guy tunes in to just see the faux blonde girraffe or the orc-ish Stephanie then a guy deserves to sit through the sewage laden display of retardedness.

I know, she could eat the apples that are higher up on the tree.

As far as Stephanie, I remember watching that crappy show and thinking, " where have I seen that face before?"

Then I saw a LOR movie on and the light bulb turned on.
