I don't have one myself, but a guy at work just got one from SOG last week. He showed me the day he got it, and I was shocked at the condition. It was great! wood was good +, bluing was probably 75-80%, and the bore was bright and shiney with strong rifling. All in all a great looking rifle, and he didn't pay for handpicked.
The only thing I have gotten from SOG myself was a Mosin Nagant 91/30, and I was not at all impressed by the condition of it. VERY little bluing left on it, and the last several inches of the bore were dark and pitted. Basically jsut as with any c&r you roll the dice, but if that Turk is any representation of the ones they have, I would get one in a heartbeat.

I have one and it's perfect. Excellent wood, excellent metal and shoots great. I picked it up from a local C&R dealer so your milage may vary buying one sight unseen...

Sorry for the small photo... it's the only one I have up at the moment.

I have handled 2 lately. The first one was in fair-good shape, however the bolt was hard to lift after more than 4 rounds were shot rapidly. Bolt opperation was normal after cool down period. This is not the first time I observed this in some mauser rifles. The second rifle had serious problems. It had been "modifyed" so that the safty would not go into the far right position (safty on, bolt locked). Somthing was also wrong with bolt as the rifle would not fire 3 out of 4 times with ammo that worked perfect in the other rifle. Does anyone have any comments on the hard bolt lift after shooting fast? When I'm reloading, hard bolt lift would be a no-no.

THose Turks knew how to keep their weapons. The Turk mauser --although a brute of a rifle--was actually in better shape than most of my other C&R's including Persian Mauser, Swedish Mauser, Finnish or Russian Moisan-Nagant. Only a refinished NIW Polish m44 beats it for great condition -- but it IS a beast of a long-gun.

I bought 2 turks from SOG a year ago. 1 I tore into an action to make a sporter out of .. rough shape but WECSOG'd to somewhat nice sporter. The other looked like it was drug behind the truck all the way from Turkey to SOG .. it was an entire pathetic piece of s*^t. I took it to my most unfavorable dealer and sold it to him !

Others have had good luck with SOG .. I order once in a while but I like AIM a hell of alot more for quality guns and better service!
